About the PositionThe Law Office of Karen S. Monrreal, a respected immigration law firm in Reno, Nevada, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a newly licensed or early-career attorney with a passion for immigration and humanitarian law who values mentorship, meaningful client interaction, and professional growth.This role is primarily in-office in Reno, Nevada, with the possibility of partial remote work.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Conduct client intakes and factual investigations for a variety of immigration cases, including:</li><li>Family-based petitions</li><li>Humanitarian relief (U Visa, T Visa, and VAWA)</li><li>Adjustment of status, waivers, and removal defense</li><li>Prepare and file petitions, applications, motions, and supporting documentation with USCIS, EOIR, and other agencies.</li><li>Draft detailed declarations, legal briefs, and supporting statements.</li><li>Perform legal research and write memoranda on immigration issues.</li><li>Maintain ongoing and compassionate communication with clients.</li><li>Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure timely case completion.</li><li>Uphold the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality.</li></ul>QualificationsRequired:<ul><li>Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.</li><li>Active membership in the Nevada State Bar, or eligibility for admission within six (6) months.</li><li>Excellent legal writing and analytical skills &mdash; this role requires extensive drafting of legal documents.</li><li>Strong organizational and time management abilities.</li><li>Commitment to immigration and humanitarian law.</li><li>Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.</li></ul>Preferred:<ul><li>Prior internship or experience in immigration law.</li><li>Familiarity with immigration forms, filings, and procedures.</li><li>Experience preparing client declarations or supporting documentation.</li><li>Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds.</li><li>Experience using immigration case management software (such as Docketwise).</li></ul>Compensation and Benefits<ul><li>Salary: Commensurate with experience (entry-level range approximately $65,000-$80,000 annually).</li><li>Benefits include:</li><li>Health and dental insurance</li><li>Paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and 401(k)</li><li>Bar dues and CLE reimbursement</li><li>Ongoing mentorship and professional development opportunities</li><li>Supportive, mission-driven team environment</li></ul>How to ApplyPlease email the following materials through indeed Subject line: Associate Attorney &ndash; Immigration (Reno/Partial Remote Possible)Include:<ul><li>Cover Letter describing your interest in immigration law and writing experience</li><li>Resume or Curriculum Vitae</li><li>Writing Sample (immigration-related preferred)</li><li>Three (3) professional or academic references</li></ul>Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
