About the Position

The Law Office of Karen S. Monrreal, a respected immigration law firm in Reno, Nevada, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a newly licensed or early-career attorney with a passion for immigration and humanitarian law who values mentorship, meaningful client interaction, and professional growth.

This role is primarily in-office in Reno, Nevada, with the possibility of partial remote work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct client intakes and factual investigations for a variety of immigration cases, including:
  • Family-based petitions
  • Humanitarian relief (U Visa, T Visa, and VAWA)
  • Adjustment of status, waivers, and removal defense
  • Prepare and file petitions, applications, motions, and supporting documentation with USCIS, EOIR, and other agencies.
  • Draft detailed declarations, legal briefs, and supporting statements.
  • Perform legal research and write memoranda on immigration issues.
  • Maintain ongoing and compassionate communication with clients.
  • Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure timely case completion.
  • Uphold the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Nevada State Bar, or eligibility for admission within six (6) months.
  • Excellent legal writing and analytical skills — this role requires extensive drafting of legal documents.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Commitment to immigration and humanitarian law.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.

Preferred:

  • Prior internship or experience in immigration law.
  • Familiarity with immigration forms, filings, and procedures.
  • Experience preparing client declarations or supporting documentation.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience using immigration case management software (such as Docketwise).

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: Commensurate with experience (entry-level range approximately $65,000-$80,000 annually).
