QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>
Education: Certification of graduation from a school of nursing approved by the Department of Professional Regulation</li><li>
License: license as a registered nurse by examination, or a license by endorsement are required in accordance to the State of Illinois Nurse Practice Act</li><li>
A valid driver&rsquo;s license and automobile insurance</li><li>
Madison County, IL residency requirements must be met within 6 months of hire</li></ul>
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>
Performs duties in accordance with department protocols, State and Federal rules and guidelines for each health service program the Health Department supports</li><li>
Utilizes the nursing process to assess patients, families, or communities; identifies problems, implements plans, and evaluates the effectiveness of the plans in such programs as Communicable Disease, Tuberculosis, Immunizations, Lead, etc.</li><li>
Collects and interprets data for epidemiological purposes</li><li>
Maintains clinical records</li><li>
Demonstrates and performs nursing procedures within the scope of practice of a professional registered nurse</li><li>
Interviews patients to obtain a thorough personal and family history</li><li>
Recognizes and interprets symptoms of patients' conditions, reports to appropriate person and assists with remedial measures for adverse developments</li><li>
Provides counseling with regard to the physical and emotional needs of the patients and their families</li><li>
Confers with parents, physicians, dentists, schools, and other agencies to gather important information related to a holistic and preventative health approach for communities as a whole</li><li>
Confers with other health and social service providers, with written consent of the patient, to provide a more holistic approach to patient care</li><li>
Participates in grant program reviews</li><li>
Teaches patients, family and others about nursing care, treatments, and health practices</li><li>
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above</li></ul>
