Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Balance Sheet General Ledger Accountant to join our finance team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization&rsquo;s financial health through meticulous ledger management. Your expertise will help drive transparent financial reporting, facilitate regulatory compliance, and contribute to strategic decision-making. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative environment that values precision, innovation, and continuous improvement.Duties<ul><li>Manage and reconcile the general ledger accounts, including balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness through detailed account reconciliation processes.</li><li>Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal policies.</li><li>Conduct thorough balance sheet reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly to maintain data integrity.</li><li>Support financial statement preparation by analyzing account balances, assisting with month-end and year-end closing activities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting standards.</li><li>Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment authorization, and cash flow analysis to optimize financial operations.</li><li>Collaborate with internal teams on audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations related to general ledger transactions.</li><li>Utilize accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms to streamline accounting workflows and improve reporting efficiency.</li><li>Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls related to financial reporting and internal controls.</li><li>Support non-profit accounting activities involving LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) projects or other specialized funding sources when applicable.</li><li>Assist in the implementation of technical accounting standards related to securities law, governmental accounting practices, or corporate finance regulations as needed.</li></ul>Experience<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.</li><li>Proven experience in general ledger accounting within a corporate or public accounting environment.</li><li>Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, financial concepts, double-entry bookkeeping, and accrual accounting methods.</li><li>Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar tools; experience with Microsoft Excel for financial analysis is essential.</li><li>Familiarity with regulatory requirements including SOX compliance and governmental accounting standards is highly desirable.</li><li>Prior experience in financial report writing and interpretation to support management decision-making processes.</li><li>Knowledge of tax regulations and experience with tax-related accounting activities is a plus.</li><li>Ability to mentor junior team members while fostering a collaborative team environment focused on continuous learning and improvement.</li><li>Strong analytical skills with the capacity for detailed account analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
