Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Balance Sheet General Ledger Accountant to join our finance team. Duties
- Manage and reconcile the general ledger accounts, including balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness through detailed account reconciliation processes.
- Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal policies.
- Conduct thorough balance sheet reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly to maintain data integrity.
- Support financial statement preparation by analyzing account balances, assisting with month-end and year-end closing activities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting standards.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment authorization, and cash flow analysis to optimize financial operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams on audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations related to general ledger transactions.
- Utilize accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms to streamline accounting workflows and improve reporting efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls related to financial reporting and internal controls.
- Support non-profit accounting activities involving LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) projects or other specialized funding sources when applicable.
- Assist in the implementation of technical accounting standards related to securities law, governmental accounting practices, or corporate finance regulations as needed.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Proven experience in general ledger accounting within a corporate or public accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, financial concepts, double-entry bookkeeping, and accrual accounting methods.
- Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar tools; experience with Microsoft Excel for financial analysis is essential.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements including SOX compliance and governmental accounting standards is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in financial report writing and interpretation to support management decision-making processes.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and experience with tax-related accounting activities is a plus.
