Position: Senior Adviser, Communications Emergency Management Communications Classification: VPS 5 About the Role The Senior Adviser, Communications plays a key role in delivering clear, accessible, and effective communication to help keep communities informed and safe before, during, and after emergencies. This position develops and implements communication strategies, produces a range of materials, and ensures information is tailored to diverse audiences. It also contributes to statewide communication efforts during emergency events. Key Responsibilities <ul> <li>Develop and implement communication strategies and content across preparedness, response, relief, and recovery phases.</li> <li>Create and manage materials such as website content, social media posts, fact sheets, media releases, stakeholder packs, and internal updates.</li> <li>Ensure information is accessible and inclusive, particularly for First Nations, CALD, and diverse communities.</li> <li>Maintain up-to-date and consistent messaging across all channels.</li> <li>Build relationships with key stakeholders across government, councils, and community organisations.</li> <li>Provide communication advice and support to internal teams, executives, and regional offices.</li> <li>Identify emerging communication risks and help manage reputation issues.</li> <li>Support the State Communications Manager during emergency activations, which may require after-hours or weekend work.</li> </ul> Key Selection Criteria Technical Skills & Experience <ul> <li>Experience developing and delivering communication strategies, campaigns, and projects.</li> <li>Strong writing and editing skills for multiple audiences and channels.</li> <li>Proven stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple projects in complex, fast-paced environments.</li> </ul> Personal Attributes <ul> <li>Calm and adaptable under pressure.</li> <li>Collaborative and inclusive, working effectively across teams.</li> <li>Strategic thinker with a focus on achieving positive outcomes for communities.</li> <li>Strong communication and influencing skills.</li> </ul> Qualifications <ul> <li>A tertiary qualification in communications or a related field is highly desirable.</li> </ul> ManpowerGroup is committed to being a Diversity Confident Recruiter and encourages applications from people from a diverse range of backgrounds, including people with a disability.
