Position Title: Mechanic HelperStatus: Represented - Transport Workers Union, Local 223FLSA Status: Non-ExemptDepartment: MaintenanceWage: $26.33/hr +4% night premium, if applicableSchedule: Must be able to work all shifts: mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and split shifts.Metro connects people, places, and opportunities through quality transit services. This is a safety sensitive position subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) random drug and alcohol testing.Mechanic Helper Qualifications:<ul><li>1 year of experience in inspecting and refilling automobile oil and fluids</li><li>Must be 21 years of age, with a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.</li><li>Must possess a valid driver&rsquo;s license.</li><li>Must possess or have the ability to complete company provided Class B CDL training in 90 days.</li><li>Must maintain Class B CDL at all times of employment.</li><li>Must possess satisfactory driving record meeting insurance standards.</li><li>Must pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, back screen, drug screen, and complete a background check.</li><li>Must possess stable and verifiable work history.</li><li>Must have the ability to learn Fleet Mechanic and maintenance procedures.</li><li>Must have the ability to obtain necessary tools and use various shop tools and equipment.</li><li>Must be able to lift 75 lbs.</li></ul>Mechanic Helper Essential Duties:<ul><li>Regular and predictable performance of essential job functions.</li><li>Change and refill bus oils and fluids.</li><li>Inspect high wear items on entire bus.</li><li>Ensure tire pressure for proper inflation.</li><li>Inspect and refill fluid levels as necessary.</li><li>Clean and lubricate fittings as needed.</li><li>Complete bus and fleet safety inspections.</li><li>Document work performed on repair work orders.</li><li>Ensure that the fleet service center is clean and presentable.</li><li>Other related duties as assigned.</li></ul>Mechanic Helper Benefits:<ul><li>Low-cost employee contributions for individual and family group health, vision, and dental insurance</li><li>Company paid life insurance.</li><li>Company paid short-term and long-term disability insurance.</li><li>Pre-tax payroll deduction for flexible spending account</li><li>Ten paid holidays per year</li><li>Paid vacations</li><li>Annual uniform allowance</li><li>Annual tool allowance</li><li>Pension plan</li><li>457(b) retirement savings plan</li><li>Tuition reimbursement program</li><li>Complimentary bus pass</li></ul>ONLY THE BEST QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTED.
