Key Responsibilities:</i></p><p><i><br>
Major Challenges:</i></p></div><div><div><ul><li><b><br>
Strategic Leadership</b>: Define and execute high&#8209;impact research themes aligned to Mott&rsquo;s market priorities; guide multi&#8209;year technology roadmap development. Serve as a cross-program technical mentor.</li><li><b>
Experimental Design:</b> Define robust experimental frameworks and Design of Experiments (DOE) with clear metrology and acceptance criteria. Execute complex experiments and scale results into manufacturable concepts.</li><li><b>
IP and Patent Ownership:</b> Generate invention disclosures and patents; partner with internal and external counsel on IP strategy.</li><li><b>
Industry Representation: </b>Establish and lead research partnerships with academic institutions and national laboratories. Identify external funding opportunities and grant proposals.</li></ul></div><p></p><div><br>

Balancing quick iteration with documentation rigor necessary for quality systems and IP.</li><li>
Establishing reliable, scalable measurement methods for novel porous capabilities.</li><li>
Moving new technology into a rapidly growing business and convincing internal stakeholders on technology readiness.</li><li>
Limited published data on porous metals and customer applications.</li><li>
Managing complex projects that may require cross functional and external resource engagement to succeed.</li></ul></div></div><p></p><div><p><i><br>

Required Experience</i><i>:</i></p></div><div><div><ul><li><b><br>
Invention Disclosures:</b><ul><li>
File 3-5 invention disclosures and submit 2 patents within 24 months.</li></ul></li><li><b>
Capability Industrialization:</b><ul><li>
Scale at least 2 new capabilities into production annually</li><li>
Documented procedures for DOE, metrology and scale up adopted by R&amp;D team</li></ul></li><li><b>
External Partnerships:</b><ul><li>
Identify and source university and national lab partnerships delivering measurable technical outcomes</li></ul></li></ul></div><p></p><div><br>
<ul><li>
Ph.D. in Materials Science, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field. Ceramics knowledge a plus.</li><li>
15+ years of experience in a manufacturing development environment.</li><li>
Security clearance preferred, but not required.</li></ul></div></div><p></p><div><p><i><br>
Technical Knowledge/Skills</i><i>:</i></p><p><i><br>
Non-Technical Skills:</i></p></div><div><div><br>
<ul><li>
Deep technical expertise in materials science, mechanical engineering or metallurgy. Knowledge in fluid mechanics is a plus.</li><li>
Excellent planning, project management, customer facing, and communication skills.</li><li>
Demonstrated record of technical breakthroughs evidenced by patents, publications, or products delivered to end users.</li></ul></div><br>
