NextCare Urgent Care is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistant that likes the challenge of a fast pace setting and working in a team environment. </p><p><b>Responsibilities</b></p>
<p>
The Medical Assistant will be caring for patients in the following capacity:</p>
<ul>
<li>Assists provider with exams (including patient vitals), procedures and other processes related to direct patient care under direct supervision of the Provider and within the scope of practice of a Medical Assistant.
</li><li>Administers all forms of medications per policy and Provider direction and adheres to all safety protocols and procedures for medication administration.
</li><li>Will perform blood draws as per direction of the Provider</li>
<li>May be responsible for urine collection for various testing to include employer drug screens</li>
<li>May perform splinting and casting
</li><li>Conduct various type physicals such as sports physicals
</li><li>Performs other related duties specific to urgent care such as ear lavage, wound care and oxygen administration.
</li><li>Notifies the provider on duty promptly of all unusual patient occurrences including medication events on an incident report.
</li><li>Promptly notifies the Clinic Manager of patient or employee safety concerns.
</li><li>Follows guidelines and requirements of laboratory and clinical accreditation policies.
</li><li>Must be proficient in EMR/EHR</li>
<li>Performs other related duties as assigned or described by Company policy.</li>
</ul>
<p>As a Medical Assistant, you may also be asked to support Front Office Reception. When working in the front office you will perform such duties as: keeping patients and families informed of wait times, monitor the flow of patients, process patients for discharge including preparing charges, collecting payment, obtaining all necessary signatures and issuing receipts.</p>

The Medical Assistant supports the organization with customer service and treating all of our patients with respect and dignity. They ensure the clinic and front reception area is running smoothly and patient flow at the optimum, as well as provide patient care services in the back office medical setting, which will meet the specific needs of the patient.</p>
<p><b>
Essential Education, Experience and Skills:</b></p>
<p><b>
Education:</b> Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; <b>AND</b></p>
<ul><li>Completed an <b>APPROVED (accredited)</b> Medical Assistant training program.</li></ul>
<p><b>OR</b></p>
<ul><li>Completed an <b>UNAPPROVED</b> <b>(non-accredited)</b> Medical Assistant training program <b>AND</b> a National Certification through one of the following:</li></ul>
<ul><li>American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - administers the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and certification; <b>or</b></li>
American Medical Technologists (AMT) <li>- provides the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam and certification to individuals who have completed the AMT criteria; <b>or</b></li>
<li>National Healthcareer Association (NHA)-administers the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam and certification</li>
</ul>
<p><b>OR</b></p>
<ul><li>Completed an <b>UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND</b> was employed as a medical assistant for one (1) year or more after program completion <b>OR</b> must have <b>VERIFIABLE</b> work experience directly supervised by Provider or Physician Group for a minimum of 2000 hours or 1 year.
</li></ul><p>** Other MA education or experience may be considered upon review and approval from our Compliance and Regulatory department **</p>
