Job Overview Olson Dental Care (Bloomington) is actively and immediately seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our growing dental team. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in supporting dentists by performing preventive dental treatments, patient education, and assisting with clinical procedures. Your expertise will help ensure our patients receive comprehensive care in a welcoming, professional, and fun environment.Responsibilities<ul><li>Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.</li><li>Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.</li><li>Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.</li><li>Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.</li><li>Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.</li><li>Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.</li><li>Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times.</li><li>Review documentation for accuracy, assist with medical coding, and support overall documentation review processes.</li><li>Support infection control measures by following sterilization procedures and maintaining a sterile clinical environment.</li><li>Collaborate with team members to deliver comprehensive general dentistry services focused on optimal patient outcomes.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist in accordance with state or regional regulations.</li><li>Proven experience in dental office settings, including familiarity with dental assisting and chairside assisting techniques.</li><li>Proficiency on dental software, charting and computer based programs</li><li>Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control standards.</li><li>Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and handle medical imaging procedures effectively.</li><li>Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical records management, and medical coding practices.</li><li>Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients clearly and compassionately about oral health care.</li><li>Commitment to maintaining aseptic technique and adhering to infection prevention protocols in all clinical activities.
