Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will oversee the financial management of various projects, ensuring accurate accounting, compliance with regulatory standards, and timely financial reporting. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects while honing your skills in diverse accounting disciplines.Duties<ul><li>Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure adherence to financial plans using advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or PeopleSoft.</li><li>Prepare detailed financial statements and reports that interpret project financial data for stakeholders, utilizing GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.</li><li>Conduct account reconciliations including balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation to maintain data integrity.</li><li>Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections aligned with project timelines.</li><li>Perform cash flow analysis and forecasting to support project planning and resource allocation.</li><li>Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations where applicable.</li><li>Assist in auditing processes by preparing documentation for internal and external audits, including regulatory reporting requirements.</li><li>Mentor junior team members on technical accounting concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, accrual accounting, and financial analysis techniques.</li><li>Support governmental accounting practices and non-profit accounting standards as needed for specific projects or grants.</li><li>Collaborate with project managers to review financial performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.</li></ul>Experience<ul><li>Proven experience in corporate or governmental accounting with a focus on project-based financial management.</li><li>Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and relevant tax laws such as securities law or wills, trusts &amp; estate law is preferred.</li><li>Hands-on experience with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or similar platforms is essential.</li><li>Demonstrated ability in financial report writing, interpretation of complex financial data, and budget management.</li><li>Familiarity with public accounting practices or private equity environments is advantageous.</li><li>Excellent analytical skills with a solid understanding of financial concepts like debits &amp; credits, accruals, journal entries, and account analysis.</li><li>Ability to mentor team members effectively while managing multiple projects simultaneously.</li><li>Strong communication skills for preparing clear reports and collaborating across departments.
