Position Overview
A professional security guard to protect Path of Life Community Shelter premises, assets, and personnel. The Guard will maintain a high visibility presence and prevent all illegal or inappropriate actions. The goal is to detect, deter, observe and report.

Essential Job Functions
Responsibilities<ul><li>
Protecting POLM property, guest, and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment</li><li>
Observing for signs of noncompliance or disorder and investigating disturbances</li><li>
Act lawfully in direct defense of life or property</li><li>
Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences</li><li>
Report any suspicious incidents in detail</li><li>
Patrol building and perimeter randomly and regularly</li><li>
Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates</li><li>
Watch alarm systems detecting/emergency equipment</li><li>
Perform first aid or CPR</li><li>
Other duties as assigned</li></ul>

Requirements:

Education and Qualifications<ul><li>
Trained security officer with diploma (guard card)</li><li>
2 years proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position</li><li>
High school diploma</li></ul>
Requirements Include<ul><li>
Employment eligibility verification</li><li>
Successful completion of background screening</li></ul>

Work schedules are subject to change or start and end times may vary based on business needs and operational requirements</li><li>
Flexibility and adaptability are essential to meet the demands of the role and the organization</li></ul>
Physical Requirements<ul><li>
Environmental conditions are both, inside and outside</li><li>
Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to four (4) hours in length</li><li>
Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously</li><li>
Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other departments of the shelter on a timely basis</li><li>
Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. as needed</li><li>
Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity</li><li>
Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with other staff, guests, and supervisors</li><li>
Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception</li><li>
Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and other office equipment as needed</li><li>
Ability to work primarily with fingers to pick, pinch, type and carry out substantial movements (motions) of the wrists and hands as well</li><li>
Have good vision with or without corrective lenses.</li><li>
Carrying/Lifting up to 50lbs</li><li>
Bending down and lifting is occasionally required</li><li>
Exposure to some unavoidable communal living illnesses</li></ul>
Special Requirements<ul><li>
Must have or obtain slip resistant shoes</li><li>
CPR certification Preferred</li></ul></div>
