The Head Carpenter / Workshop Foreman oversees daily operations of the wood workshop, managing a team of carpenters and helpers to ensure timely, high-quality production of furniture, cabinetry, and other wood products. This role combines strong technical carpentry skills with leadership, planning, and quality control responsibilities.Key Responsibilities1. Production Management<ul><li>Plan and allocate daily tasks to carpenters based on project priorities and delivery schedules.</li><li>Supervise fabrication, assembly, finishing, and installation of furniture and joinery items.</li><li>Ensure materials, tools, and machinery are available and in proper working condition.</li><li>Coordinate with designers, engineers, and project managers to clarify design and technical details.</li></ul>2. Quality Control<ul><li>Inspect work at every stage to maintain quality, accuracy, and finish standards.</li><li>Ensure correct joinery techniques, fitting accuracy, and finishing consistency.</li><li>Monitor compliance with design drawings and specifications.</li></ul>3. Team Leadership<ul><li>Train and guide carpenters, polishers, and helpers in technical skills and safe work practices.</li><li>Motivate and maintain discipline, productivity, and teamwork within the workshop.</li><li>Manage workforce attendance, performance, and task allocation.</li></ul>4. Safety &amp; Maintenance<ul><li>Enforce workshop safety protocols and housekeeping standards.</li><li>Schedule preventive maintenance for machinery and tools.</li><li>Report breakdowns, shortages, and risks promptly.</li></ul>5. Coordination &amp; Reporting<ul><li>Liaise with procurement and store teams to ensure timely material availability.</li><li>Track progress, update daily production reports, and support project timelines.</li><li>Provide feedback for process improvements and efficiency optimization.</li></ul>Skills &amp; QualificationsTechnical Skills:<ul><li>Expert in carpentry, joinery, and wood finishing processes.</li><li>Strong knowledge of various wood types, plywood, veneers, laminates, and adhesives.</li><li>Familiarity with modern machinery (CNC, edge banding, panel saws, etc.) and hand tools.</li><li>Ability to read technical drawings and interpret design details.</li></ul>Management Skills:<ul><li>Team leadership and manpower management.</li><li>Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.</li><li>Time management and production planning.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>ITI / Diploma in Carpentry, Wood Technology, or related field.</li><li>Minimum 5&ndash;10 years of experience in furniture manufacturing or interior fit-out workshops, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.</li></ul>Work Environment<ul><li>Workshop-based role with occasional site visits for installation supervision.</li><li>May involve extended hours depending on project deadlines.</li></ul>Job Types: Full-time, PermanentPay: &#8377;30,000.00 - &#8377;35,000.00 per monthBenefits:<ul><li>Cell phone reimbursement</li><li>Internet reimbursement</li></ul>Education:<ul><li>Diploma (Preferred)</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>Carpentry: 7 years (Preferred)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
