Person County Department of Social Services is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Business Officer I within the Department of Social Services. This position plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the department&rsquo;s financial and administrative operations.<p>
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, lead, manage, and direct all financial and budgetary functions for the Department of Social Services. Responsibilities include overseeing both short-term and long-term financial planning, ensuring fiscal accountability, and supporting the department&rsquo;s mission through sound financial management.</p><p>
Under the direction of the Social Services Director, the Business Officer I is responsible for the development, research, and preparation of the department&rsquo;s annual budget. This role also ensures compliance with federal, state, and county financial regulations while maintaining effective internal controls and accurate fiscal reporting.</p><div></div><p><br>

The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience.</p><p></p><p><br>
Must possess a valid driver&rsquo;s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.</p><p></p><p><br>
This is an exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly/1950 hours annually.</p></div><br>

<div><p><b>Required Minimum Training (Must match State classification spec):</b></p><ul><li>
Graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with a major in business, public, or hospital administration, and four years administrative experience involving participation in the planning and management of a business or governmental program;</li><li>
or an equivalent combination of training and experience.</li></ul><b>
Preferred Qualifications:</b><ul><li>
Ability to select, train, and supervise employees engaged in business operations.</li><li>
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public and business administration.</li><li>
Thorough knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment.</li></ul></div><p></p>
