Position Summary

The Parts Manager oversees all operations of the Parts Department for a franchised new car dealership. This role is responsible for ensuring proper inventory levels, driving revenue and profitability, maintaining manufacturer compliance, delivering exceptional internal and external customer service, and managing a team of parts professionals. The Parts Manager ensures efficient parts operations to support service, wholesale, and retail customers in alignment with dealership goals. 
Key Responsibilities 

1. Leadership &amp; Management
<ul>
<li>Lead, train, mentor, and develop the parts team, including counter staff, shipping/receiving, drivers, inventory specialists, and advisors.</li>
<li>Establish performance expectations and administer coaching, accountability, and performance reviews.</li>
<li>Maintain a positive and productive departmental culture.</li>
</ul>
2. Operational Excellence
<ul>
<li>Manage daily parts department operations, including retail, wholesale, internal, and warranty parts flow.</li>
<li>Ensure timely fulfillment of parts for Service and retail customers.</li>
<li>Maintain proper staffing levels to ensure operational coverage.</li>
</ul>
3. Inventory Control
<ul>
<li>Maintain optimal inventory levels based on manufacturer guidelines and dealership needs.</li>
<li>Conduct regular cycle counts and annual physical inventory.</li>
<li>Review aging inventory and implement strategies to minimize obsolescence.</li>
<li>Adjust orders based on sales trends and seasonal demand.</li>
</ul>
4. Financial Performance
<ul>
<li>Achieve departmental sales, gross profit, and expense objectives.</li>
<li>Monitor and manage parts gross profit margins, discounts, and parts matrixing strategies.</li>
<li>Ensure accurate processing of invoices, credits, returns, cores, and backorders.</li>
<li>Prepare monthly financial forecasts and review variances with management.</li>
</ul>
5. Manufacturer &amp; Compliance
<ul>
<li>Maintain full compliance with franchise/manufacturer parts programs, policies, and reporting requirements.</li>
<li>Ensure proper handling of warranty parts, return procedures, and documentation.</li>
<li>Participate in manufacturer audits and correct any compliance issues promptly.</li>
</ul>
6. Customer Service
<ul>
<li>Maintain high customer satisfaction ratings for internal, retail, and wholesale accounts.</li>
<li>Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally.</li>
<li>Build strong relationships with technicians, advisors, body shops, and wholesale clients.</li>
</ul>
7. Process &amp; Continuous Improvement
<ul>
<li>Implement processes that increase efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain strong internal controls.</li>
<li>Ensure proper use of the DMS, parts catalog systems, and manufacturer ordering platforms.</li>
<li>Monitor and improve parts fill rate, accuracy, and timeliness.</li>
</ul>
Required Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Minimum 3&ndash;5 years automotive parts experience; 2+ years in a supervisory or management role preferred.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of dealership DMS (Reynolds &amp; Reynolds).</li>
<li>Comprehensive understanding of manufacturer parts programs and ordering systems.</li>
<li>Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.</li>
<li>Proven ability to manage inventory, financial performance, and customer relationships.</li>
<li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license with acceptable driving record.</li>
</ul>

<li>Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume dealership environment.</li>
</ul>
Work Environment
<ul>
<li>Primarily indoors in a dealership parts department environment.</li>
<li>Frequent interaction with technicians, advisors, customers, and manufacturer reps.</li>
<li>May require occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.</li>
</ul>
