Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Protection &amp; Controls Engineer to join our team, providing expert-level substation protection and control design, engineering, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and technical support across a wide range of utility and industrial projects. This includes medium- and high-voltage substations, battery energy storage systems, and solar collector substations. The role combines leadership of technical teams, hands-on field work, project management, and client engagement to deliver safe, cost-effective, and high-quality services. The incumbent will lead and mentor engineers and technicians, serve as the technical authority for P&amp;C systems, perform responsible-charge engineering duties, and ensure project deliverables meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.Duties<ul><li>Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary technical team of engineers, designers, and technicians.</li><li>Provide technical direction, training, and development for junior staff and drafters/designers.</li><li>Support business development through proposal input, client presentations, and technical expertise.</li><li>Oversee project schedules, budgets, and quality control processes.</li><li>Develop and refine P&amp;C designs including one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.</li><li>Design protection schemes for bus, line, capacitor, and transformer equipment including relay settings.</li><li>Specify and design SCADA communication systems and substation layouts.</li><li>Write engineering specifications and implement them in project deliverables.</li><li>Perform system studies including fault current, voltage drop, and insulation coordination.</li><li>Perform and/or oversee acceptance testing, commissioning, and maintenance of substation equipment including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, protective relays, power cables, grounding systems, and associated P&amp;C systems.</li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and control system issues during installation and operation.</li><li>Conduct relay functional testing, end-to-end testing, and system integration checks.</li><li>Ensure adherence to OSHA, NETA, NFPA 70E, and company safety policies.</li><li>Prepare and maintain detailed test reports, as-built documentation, and compliance records.</li></ul>Experience<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Electrical Engineering (required).</li><li>Minimum 8+ years of experience in protection &amp; controls engineering, with at least 2+ years in field testing/commissioning of medium- to high-voltage systems.</li><li>NETA Level III or IV certification (required).</li><li>Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred).</li><li>Experience in utility, renewable energy, and industrial substation projects (preferred).</li><li>Familiarity with multiple client design standards and project management methodologies (preferred).</li><li>Proficiency with industry-standard testing equipment and engineering software (preferred).</li><li>Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple projects.</li><li>Advanced knowledge of substation protection principles, SCADA systems, and substation design/construction practices.</li><li>Strong understanding of electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout, arc flash, and shock hazard procedures.</li><li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license with acceptable driving record.</li><li>Ability to travel extensively to project sites.
