We&rsquo;re looking for a Staff Accountant who wants to use their accounting skills to support meaningful work. In this role, you&rsquo;ll be a key part of our finance team&mdash;helping ensure financial accuracy, supporting staff and vendors, and strengthening the systems that allow our mission to thrive.
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">What You&rsquo;ll Be Doing</h3>
As our Staff Accountant, you&rsquo;ll handle a variety of accounting responsibilities that keep our day-to-day operations moving forward, including:
<ul><li>Processing accounts payable with accuracy and timeliness
</li><li>Reconciling vendor statements and resolving discrepancies
</li><li>Serving as a professional, friendly point of contact for staff, clients, and vendors
</li><li>Recording banking and ACH activity in the general ledger
</li><li>Managing credit card activity, ensuring expenses are documented and recorded correctly
</li><li>Tracking prepaid and restricted donor expenses
</li><li>Preparing monthly and year-end journal entries to support financial close
</li><li>Organizing and maintaining financial documentation for grant and reporting purposes
</li><li>Assisting with annual filings, including 1099s
</li><li>Providing backup support for bi-weekly payroll when needed
</li><li>Supporting internal controls, financial policies, and team collaboration
</li><li>Pitching in with other accounting duties as needed&mdash;we&rsquo;re a team, and we support one another
</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">What We&rsquo;re Looking For</h3>
We&rsquo;re seeking someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities.
You&rsquo;ll be a great fit if you have:
<ul><li>An Associate degree in Accounting or at least three years of accounting/bookkeeping experience
</li><li>Experience with accounts payable and general accounting functions
</li><li>Familiarity with sales and use tax (a plus!)
</li><li>Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
</li><li>Excellent communication skills and a service-oriented mindset
</li><li>The ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
</li><li>A problem-solving approach and strong attention to detail
</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Additional Requirements</h3>
<ul><li>Valid New York State driver&rsquo;s license
</li><li>Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
</li><li>Regular, reliable attendance
