We’re looking for a Staff Accountant who wants to use their accounting skills to support meaningful work. In this role, you’ll be a key part of our finance team—helping ensure financial accuracy, supporting staff and vendors, and strengthening the systems that allow our mission to thrive.
As our Staff Accountant, you’ll handle a variety of accounting responsibilities that keep our day-to-day operations moving forward, including:
Processing accounts payable with accuracy and timeliness
Reconciling vendor statements and resolving discrepancies
Serving as a professional, friendly point of contact for staff, clients, and vendors
Recording banking and ACH activity in the general ledger
Managing credit card activity, ensuring expenses are documented and recorded correctly
Tracking prepaid and restricted donor expenses
Preparing monthly and year-end journal entries to support financial close
Organizing and maintaining financial documentation for grant and reporting purposes
Assisting with annual filings, including 1099s
Providing backup support for bi-weekly payroll when needed
Supporting internal controls, financial policies, and team collaboration
Pitching in with other accounting duties as needed—we’re a team, and we support one another
We’re seeking someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities.
You’ll be a great fit if you have:
An Associate degree in Accounting or at least three years of accounting/bookkeeping experience
Experience with accounts payable and general accounting functions
Familiarity with sales and use tax (a plus!)
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Excellent communication skills and a service-oriented mindset
The ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
A problem-solving approach and strong attention to detail
Valid New York State driver’s license
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
Regular, reliable attendance
