Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Lead the full software lifecycle for Rivian's power electronics platforms, including on-board chargers, DC-DC converters, and stationary energy products.
</li><li>Architect, design, and guide the implementation of robust, scalable, and safety-critical embedded software, spanning from low-level, bare-metal/RTOS control loops to complex embedded Linux applications.</li><li>
Drive the technical strategy for multicore microcontroller architectures, ensuring optimal performance, resource utilization, and adherence to stringent real-time constraints.
</li><li>Serve as the ultimate technical authority for the team, making critical architectural decisions and resolving the most complex software challenges.</li><li>
Build, lead, and scale a world-class team of embedded software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
</li><li>Mentor engineers at all levels of their careers, providing technical guidance, defining clear growth paths, and empowering them to solve complex problems independently.
</li><li>Manage team performance, including setting goals, conducting performance reviews, and handling resource allocation and project planning.</li><li>
Own the on-time delivery of high-quality software from concept to mass production, collaborating closely with hardware, controls, systems, validation, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless product integration.
</li><li>Champion and enforce a rigorous, safety-first development process compliant with automotive standards like ISO 26262, including leading the team through design reviews, safety analyses (e.g., SW-FMEA), and validation activities.
</li><li>Define and drive best practices for the team's software development process, including version control, CI/CD, automated testing, and code reviews to ensure maximum quality and efficiency.</li></ul>
Qualifications:
<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
</li><li>10+ years of experience in real-time embedded software development, with at least 3+ years in a technical leadership or direct people management role.
</li><li>Expertise in C and C++ programming for resource-constrained, safety-critical environments.
</li><li>Proven experience in architecting and delivering complex software for both bare-metal/RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, SafeRTOS) and embedded Linux systems.</li><li>
Deep understanding of power electronics control principles, including PWM methods, and the digital control of various converter and inverter topologies.
</li><li>Demonstrated experience leading software development under a functional safety standard such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or DO-178C.
</li><li>Experience leading teams using modern software development practices, including CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab), version control (Git), and agile methodologies.
</li><li>Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with diverse, cross-functional teams.</li><li>
Direct experience leading a team through a full automotive product development lifecycle, from initial prototype to mass production and post-launch support, preferred</li><li>
Hands-on experience with automotive communication protocols (CAN, UDS, Automotive Ethernet) and EV charging standards (ISO 15118, DIN SPEC 70121, OCPP) preferred</li><li>
Familiarity with the characteristics and application of wide-bandgap power semiconductors like Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN) is preferred</li><li>
Experience architecting and utilizing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) validation methodologies for safety-critical systems preferred</li></ul>
Pay Disclosure:

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Operations | Engineering L&amp;D at the Normal plant location, the Sr. Learning Experience Designer (LXD) is responsible for designing, developing, and executing engaging, professional learning content in various digital media formats. As a member of the Manufacturing Operations &amp; Engineering Learning &amp; Talent Team, the Sr. LXD partners closely with L&amp;D Program Managers and Partners to translate requests from Operations and Engineering into effective learning content solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong project management skills, advanced proficiency with industry-leading design tools, and demonstrated ability to design using adult learning theory and Kirkpatrick&rsquo;s model of evaluation.</div>
Responsibilities:
<h4 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Content Design &amp; Development (Primary Focus)</b></h4><ul><li><div>
Design and build highly interactive, scenario-based e-learning modules from scratch using Articulate Storyline for complex interactions and Articulate Rise for responsive, rapid-development courses.</div></li><li><div>
Produce high-quality instructional and informational videos using tools such as Camtasia or Adobe Premiere Pro/Creative Cloud.</div></li><li><div>
Efficiently produce scalable AI-generated video content using tools like Synthesia.</div></li><li><div>
Develop effective support materials, including job aids and presentations, using Google Workspace and/or Adobe tools.</div></li><li><div>
Proactively manage and update existing digital learning assets to ensure content is accurate and current, maintaining version control across platforms.</div></li><li><div>
Design and facilitate upskilling workshops, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives for the L&amp;D team on new tools, design standards, and emerging best practices.</div></li><li><div>
Lead virtual and in-person instructor-led sessions ((V)ILT) for audiences up to 25; create an engaging environment and promote peer-to-peer interaction.</div></li></ul><h4 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Learning Consultancy &amp; Delivery</b></h4><ul><li><div>
Conduct needs analysis and define strategy with stakeholders to identify learning needs, scope, and business gaps.</div></li><li><div>

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in instructional design or learning experience design, with a primary focus on digital content supporting a corporate learning function; manufacturing environment experience preferred.</div></li><li><div>
Technical proficiency:</div><ul><li>
Expert proficiency with Articulate 360 (Rise and Storyline).</li><li>
Proven ability with video production tools like Camtasia or Adobe Premiere Pro/Creative Cloud.</li><li>
