About UsSarvoham Welfare Trust is a registered non-profit animal welfare organization in India dedicated to rescuing, treating, and rehabilitating animals in distress. We also engage in legal advocacy, awareness campaigns, and policy-level work to improve the lives of street and abandoned animals.We are seeking a committed Legal Advocate to handle all legal, compliance, and litigation matters related to our shelter and operations.Key Responsibilities1. Legal Compliance &amp; Governance<ul><li>Ensure compliance with all relevant animal welfare laws in India (Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, AWBI rules, Wildlife Protection Act, and local municipal regulations).</li><li>Oversee NGO compliance requirements, including Trust laws, FCRA regulations, CSR partnerships, and Income Tax exemptions (80G, 12A).</li><li>Ensure compliance with labour laws, employment agreements, and workplace safety rules.</li><li>Draft and implement internal policies related to adoptions, rescues, foster programs, volunteer management, and euthanasia protocols.</li></ul>2. Contracts &amp; DocumentationDraft, review, and manage:<ul><li>Veterinary and consultant agreements.</li><li>Adoption and foster agreements.</li><li>Vendor and supplier contracts.</li><li>Land lease, purchase, or rental agreements.</li><li>Negotiate with external parties to safeguard the shelter&rsquo;s interests.</li></ul>3. Litigation &amp; Dispute Resolution<ul><li>Represent the shelter in animal cruelty cases, and employment disputes.</li><li>File or defend cases involving illegal animal trade, harassment, or violations of shelter rights.</li><li>Work closely with police, AWBI, BBMP, and state authorities for rescues, FIR registrations, and case follow-ups.</li></ul>4. Advocacy &amp; Policy Work<ul><li>Advocate for better enforcement of animal protection and welfare laws.</li><li>Draft and file PILs, RTIs, and legal complaints to challenge systemic neglect of animal welfare.</li><li>Collaborate with legal networks, government bodies, and NGOs to advance animal rights policy initiatives.</li></ul>5. Risk Management &amp; Advisory<ul><li>Provide legal advice to the management and trustees on compliance and disputes.</li><li>Draft liability waivers and indemnity clauses for volunteers, adopters, and visitors.</li><li>Manage insurance claims and legal aspects of shelter property, staff, and vehicles.</li><li>Ensure all fundraising campaigns and donation drives comply with Indian law.</li></ul>6. Intellectual Property Protection<ul><li>Register and protect the shelter&rsquo;s name, logo, and content.</li><li>Take legal action against fraud, impersonation, or misuse of Sarvoham&rsquo;s brand.</li></ul>Qualifications &amp; Skills<ul><li>Bachelor of Law (LLB) from a recognized university; LLM preferred.</li><li>Enrolled with a State Bar Council in India and eligible to practice as an Advocate.</li><li>Minimum 5+ years of experience in civil law, litigation, and NGO/Trust compliance.</li><li>Strong knowledge of animal welfare legislation, FCRA, CSR, and labour law.</li><li>Proven experience in contract drafting, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.</li><li>Excellent drafting, negotiation, and representation skills.</li><li>Passionate about animal rights and social justice causes.</li><li>Ability to work independently and handle urgent or sensitive cases.</li></ul>Why Join Us?At Sarvoham, your legal expertise will go beyond conventional practice&mdash;you&rsquo;ll be fighting for those who cannot speak for themselves.
