About Us
Sarvoham Welfare Trust is a registered non-profit animal welfare organization in India dedicated to rescuing, treating, and rehabilitating animals in distress. We also engage in legal advocacy, awareness campaigns, and policy-level work to improve the lives of street and abandoned animals.
We are seeking a committed Legal Advocate to handle all legal, compliance, and litigation matters related to our shelter and operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant animal welfare laws in India (Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, AWBI rules, Wildlife Protection Act, and local municipal regulations).
- Oversee NGO compliance requirements, including Trust laws, FCRA regulations, CSR partnerships, and Income Tax exemptions (80G, 12A).
- Ensure compliance with labour laws, employment agreements, and workplace safety rules.
- Draft and implement internal policies related to adoptions, rescues, foster programs, volunteer management, and euthanasia protocols.
2. Contracts & Documentation
Draft, review, and manage:
- Veterinary and consultant agreements.
- Adoption and foster agreements.
- Vendor and supplier contracts.
- Land lease, purchase, or rental agreements.
- Negotiate with external parties to safeguard the shelter’s interests.
3. Litigation & Dispute Resolution
- Represent the shelter in animal cruelty cases, and employment disputes.
- File or defend cases involving illegal animal trade, harassment, or violations of shelter rights.
- Work closely with police, AWBI, BBMP, and state authorities for rescues, FIR registrations, and case follow-ups.
4. Advocacy & Policy Work
- Advocate for better enforcement of animal protection and welfare laws.
- Draft and file PILs, RTIs, and legal complaints to challenge systemic neglect of animal welfare.
- Collaborate with legal networks, government bodies, and NGOs to advance animal rights policy initiatives.
5. Risk Management & Advisory
- Provide legal advice to the management and trustees on compliance and disputes.
- Draft liability waivers and indemnity clauses for volunteers, adopters, and visitors.
- Manage insurance claims and legal aspects of shelter property, staff, and vehicles.
- Ensure all fundraising campaigns and donation drives comply with Indian law.
6. Intellectual Property Protection
- Register and protect the shelter’s name, logo, and content.
- Take legal action against fraud, impersonation, or misuse of Sarvoham’s brand.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor of Law (LLB) from a recognized university; LLM preferred.
- Enrolled with a State Bar Council in India and eligible to practice as an Advocate.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in civil law, litigation, and NGO/Trust compliance.
- Strong knowledge of animal welfare legislation, FCRA, CSR, and labour law.
- Proven experience in contract drafting, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and representation skills.
- Passionate about animal rights and social justice causes.
- Ability to work independently and handle urgent or sensitive cases.
