OverviewWe are seeking a reliable Backup Operator to manage and maintain backup and recovery processes across our Muscat environment. This role ensures data protection, backup integrity and timely recovery to meet business SLAs.Key responsibilities<ul><li>Execute, monitor and verify scheduled backups for servers, databases, virtual machines and cloud workloads.</li><li>Perform regular backup integrity checks, restores and test recoveries to validate data recoverability.</li><li>Maintain backup job schedules, retention policies and media rotation procedures (disk, tape, cloud).</li><li>Respond to backup failures and alerts: investigate causes, remediate issues and escalate complex problems to senior engineers.</li><li>Manage backup infrastructure: backup servers, storage, agents, replication jobs and backup software (e.g., Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, Commvault or similar).</li><li>Document backup configurations, runbooks and recovery procedures; keep recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO) current.</li><li>Support disaster‑recovery drills and participate in incident response for data‑loss events.</li><li>Coordinate with system, database and application teams to schedule backups and plan restores with minimal business impact.</li><li>Maintain backup capacity planning, reporting and liaise with vendors for support and patching.</li><li>Ensure compliance with data‑protection policies and secure handling of backup media.</li></ul>Required skills &amp; experience<ul><li>1&ndash;3 years&rsquo; experience in backup operations, storage administration or related IT operations role.</li><li>Hands‑on experience with enterprise backup solutions (Veeam, NetBackup, Commvault, Rubrik or equivalent).</li><li>Familiarity with virtualisation (VMware/Hyper‑V), SAN/NAS storage concepts and basic Windows/Linux administration.</li><li>Experience performing restores for files, VMs and databases; understanding of database backup strategies (SQL, Oracle) desirable.</li><li>Strong attention to detail, process discipline and ability to follow runbooks under pressure.</li><li>Good documentation and communication skills in English; Arabic advantageous.</li><li>Willingness to participate in on‑call rotation and out‑of‑hours recovery tasks.</li><li>Legal right to work in Oman and ability to travel to Muscat sites as required.</li></ul>What we offer<ul><li>Competitive Oman‑market salary and benefits.</li><li>Training and certification support; clear career path into storage, systems or disaster‑recovery engineering.</li><li>Exposure to enterprise backup platforms and regional IT operations.</li></ul>Job Types: Full-time, PermanentPay: RO25.000 - RO50.000 per hourExpected hours: 40 per weekWork Location: In person
