Our vibe is pretty simple:Do the job well, enjoy the creative process, and then go live your life.We&rsquo;re growing and this role is our first major creative hire &mdash; someone who wants to build something with us long-term.About the RoleWe&rsquo;re looking for a Videographer &amp; Content Creator who is hungry to grow, loves figuring things out, and wants to own real responsibility in a creative business.This is a hybrid role with a mix of shooting, editing, content creation, pre-production planning, gear prep, and hands-on support on set. You&rsquo;ll work from home most days, but you&rsquo;ll be on set or at our Aurora location 1&ndash;3 days a week depending on projects.If you&rsquo;re creative, self-motivated, and love storytelling through video &mdash; this might be the perfect fit.What You&rsquo;ll Do:Video Production<ul><li>Shoot interviews, talking heads, b-roll, run-and-gun footage, and small brand films</li><li>Set up lighting, audio, and camera systems (often in small 1&ndash;2 person crews)</li><li>Assist on larger productions and run small shoots independently</li><li>Prep, organize, and maintain gear before and after shoots</li></ul>Post-Production<ul><li>Edit videos in Premiere Pro (must be comfortable or willing to transition from Resolve)</li><li>Build timelines, color-correct, and create clean, cinematic edits</li><li>Collaborate with offshore editors as needed</li><li>Organize project files and manage deliverables through Frame.io and Google Drive</li></ul>Pre-Production &amp; Creative<ul><li>Help plan shoots (shot lists, timelines, logistics)</li><li>Brainstorm ideas and collaborate on creative direction</li><li>Assist with content creation for social media (short-form videos, photos, thumbnails)</li><li>Contribute to shaping the visual style and story of each project</li></ul>Client Interaction<ul><li>Handle occasional emails, calls, and video meetings</li><li>Interact professionally with clients on set</li><li>Read the room, stay calm under pressure, and represent Sidekick Media with confidence</li></ul>Skills &amp; Experience We&rsquo;re Looking ForYou don&rsquo;t need to be a senior pro &mdash; we&rsquo;ll train the right person &mdash; but you must come in with solid skills and a drive to get better every month.Required:<ul><li>Strong videography fundamentals (composition, lighting, audio, exposure)</li><li>Video editing experience (Premiere Pro preferred)</li><li>A strong sense of story &mdash; you care about how a video feels, not just how it looks</li><li>Good communication skills and reliable email management</li><li>Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs (gear can be heavy)</li><li>Ability to drive to Aurora, IL weekly</li><li>Portfolio demonstrating shooting + editing ability (required)</li></ul>Bonus Skills (not required but great to have):<ul><li>After Effects, Lightroom, and Photoshop</li><li>Basic graphic design</li><li>Social content creation experience</li><li>Agency experience</li><li>Any leadership or team-lead experience</li></ul>Who Thrives HereThis role is perfect for someone who is:<ul><li>Ambitious and wants to keep getting better</li><li>Creative and curious &mdash; always finding inspiration and wanting to try new things</li><li>Organized and reliable</li><li>Able to work independently without needing constant reminders</li><li>Hungry to grow into a Creative Lead or Producer role</li><li>Comfortable serving a wide variety of clients with different perspectives</li><li>Looking for long-term stability, not freelance chaos</li></ul>Dealbreakers:Low initiative, disorganization, lack of communication, ego, chronic forgetfulness, or people who need to be told exactly what to do every day.Work Schedule<ul><li>Hybrid (work from home + on set + occasional meetings/work days in Aurora)</li><li>Generally consistent weekday hours</li><li>Some nights/weekends depending on production days</li><li>6&ndash;10 short trips per year (travel expenses covered)</li></ul>Compensation &amp; Benefits<ul><li>$52,000&ndash;$62,000 annual equivalent ($25&ndash;$30/hr based on experience)</li><li>Paid hourly</li><li>Flexible scheduling when possible</li><li>Opportunities for raises, commissions on clients, and long-term growth</li><li>No current health insurance or retirement plan (we want to be transparent)</li><li>Company-provided video gear + workstation for full-time employees</li></ul>How to ApplyPlease submit:<ul><li>Resume</li><li>Portfolio or Video Reel (required) &mdash; links preferred</li><li>Applicant Task:</li><li>Share three video links to projects you personally shot and edited</li><li>Include 2&ndash;3 sentences for each explaining what you did and why you&rsquo;re proud of it</li></ul>Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, FreelancePay: $52,000.00 - $62,000.00 per yearExpected hours: 20 &ndash; 40 per weekBenefits:<ul><li>Flexible schedule</li><li>On-the-job training</li><li>Professional development assistance</li><li>Referral program</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>Videography: 2 years (Preferred)</li></ul>Location:<ul><li>Aurora, IL 60506 (Preferred)</li></ul>Ability to Commute:<ul><li>Aurora, IL 60506 (Required)</li></ul>Work Location: Hybrid remote in Aurora, IL 60506
