About Sound Advice Sound Advice is a product development and R&amp;D studio located in Ventura, California. We design and build products across audio, wellness, and consumer technology. We&rsquo;re seeking a skilled SolidWorks designer to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and experienced in developing parts and assemblies for mass production.This is a contract role (approximately 15&ndash;20 hours per week, flexible schedule) with potential for ongoing work as projects evolve. You&rsquo;ll collaborate with our design and engineering team to create, refine, and document products that move efficiently from concept to manufacturing.Responsibilities<ul><li>Create and manage detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks</li><li>Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles for CNC, injection molding, sheet metal, and other production methods</li><li>Develop parts and assemblies optimized for high-volume manufacturing</li><li>Prepare vendor-ready files, tolerance documentation, and BOMs</li><li>Collaborate with engineers and fabricators to solve design and build challenges</li><li>Support prototype iterations and production-ready documentation</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Proficiency in SolidWorks (assemblies, surfacing, and mechanical design)</li><li>Demonstrated experience designing components for mass production</li><li>Strong understanding of DFM and manufacturing processes</li><li>Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills</li><li>Education or background in mechanical design or engineering preferred</li><li>Contractors must provide their own workstation and SolidWorks license</li></ul>Sound Advice complies with all California labor and employment laws, including pay transparency and workplace safety requirements.
