Part-Time Remote Ophthalmic Medical Biller (Ophthalmology Experience Required)A physician-owned startup ophthalmology practice is seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Medical Biller for part-time hourly, remote work.This position requires direct ophthalmology billing experience. Candidates must be highly detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a startup medical practice environment.The practice is led by a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist with 18 years of post-training experience, specializing in cataract surgery and office-based laser procedures.Responsibilities<ul><li>Ophthalmology medical billing and claims submission</li><li>CPT and ICD-10 coding accuracy (including cataract surgery and office procedures)</li><li>Insurance follow-ups, payment posting, and denial resolution</li><li>Maintaining compliance with payer and documentation requirements</li><li>Working directly with the physician owner to ensure clean claims and efficient revenue cycle management</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>Prior ophthalmology billing experience is required</li><li>Familiarity with ophthalmic CPT codes (e.g., cataract surgery, laser procedures, office visits)</li><li>Strong attention to detail and accuracy</li><li>Ability to work independently in a remote setting</li><li>High ethical standards and professionalism</li></ul>Position Details<ul><li>Part-time</li><li>Fully remote</li><li>Flexible hours</li><li>Long-term , full-time opportunity with a growing physician-owned practice</li></ul>Pay: $23.22 - $27.97 per hourExpected hours: No less than 10.0 per weekApplication Question(s):<ul><li>For a new patient with a high-complexity, multi-system ocular condition, is it more beneficial to bill 92004 or 99204 and why?</li><li>A surgeon performs cataract surgery on the right eye but transfers postoperative care to an optometrist. The patient subsequently needs a follow-up visit for a complication. How do you bill for the post-op care, and who is responsible for the complication visit? What is this arrangement called?</li><li>Is CPT code 99213 paid the same by all payers? When would you this code instead of 92012?</li><li>What is your two favorite PM softwares and why? What PM software would you like to stay away from?</li><li> Do you have AAPC's COPC or AAO's OCS ?</li><li>What is your experience accessing remotely the PCs on the premises of the practice?
