Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Remote Medical Coder, where your expertise will play a vital role in accurately translating medical documentation into standardized codes. In this remote position, you will analyze medical records, assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures, and ensure compliance with industry standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work flexibly from anywhere while making a meaningful impact on healthcare operations.Duties<ul><li>Review and analyze medical records, including clinical notes, diagnostic reports, and operative reports to assign accurate ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), HCPCS and ADA codes.</li><li>Ensure all coding aligns with current guidelines, payer requirements, and industry standards for compliance and accuracy.</li><li>Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies or ambiguities that impact coding precision.</li><li>Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding updates, and regulatory changes affecting medical billing and coding practices.</li><li>Prepare detailed reports on coding activities and support the billing team in resolving claim denials related to coding issues.</li><li>Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently to access and document patient information securely.</li><li>Assist in maintaining comprehensive medical records by ensuring proper documentation of diagnoses, procedures, and billing codes.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Proven experience in medical coding with a strong understanding of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG assignments, and ICD coding principles.</li><li>Familiarity with medical billing processes and medical collection procedures.</li><li>Prior experience working with RPMKS, EMR systems in a healthcare setting and using VISTA via VPN is highly preferred.</li><li>Solid knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical documentation standards.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical records accurately.</li><li>Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers and billing teams.</li><li>Certification such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent is mandatory.
