Texas Lutheran University is seeking applicants for a part-time as needed Communication Specialist. This position is primarily responsible for routing incoming calls and providing information to the public. TLU is seeking reliable individuals that meet the following requirements:<ul><li>H.S. diploma or equivalent.</li><li>This position requires at least three (3) months of work experience working with the public, to include receptionist, dispatching or related duties.</li><li>Ability to communicate with the community, visitors, officers and staff via phone and radio systems.</li><li>Ability to prioritize incoming calls and push out the necessary information to appropriate individuals in a timely manner.</li><li>Ability to maintain professional composure during high stress situations and obtain detailed information.</li><li>Must exercise good judgment in providing for the safety and welfare of students, employees, visitors, and Texas Lutheran University property.</li><li>Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality.</li><li>Effective telephone and oral communication skills, clear concise speaking voice, and the ability to type 25 wpm.</li><li>Must abide by attendance standards as this is a critical 24-hour operations center.</li></ul>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:&middot; Provide service, information and directions to the campus community and visitors.&middot; Perform a full range of radio and telephone operational duties in our 24-hour operation center.&middot; Enter and maintain accurate daily activity logs to include a variety of communication equipment, including radio console, telephone, fire alarm monitoring systems and monitor university cameras.&middot; Receive emergency and non-emergency calls from staff, faculty, students, and the public requesting service and dispatch emergency personnel as necessary.Benefits are competitive.
