We're looking for a new team member to join our friendly crew at The Carrot Seed in Downtown Brookings on Wednesdays, weekends, and evenings.Job Objective: To assist in daily retail store operations, maintain store inventory and appearance, and lead engaging product tastings and demonstrations.Job Duties:<ul><li>Welcome customers by greeting and offering assistance.</li><li>Recommend, select, and help locate merchandise based on customer needs.</li><li>Provide accurate and knowledgeable assistance with inquiries on product use and maintenance.</li><li>Encourage customer engagement and satisfaction through positive experiences and building rapport.</li><li>Assist in check-out procedures (including handling money, credit cards, gift cards, and checks), bagging purchases, and wrapping gifts.</li><li>Conduct product samples and demos to showcase products for sale including prep and clean-up.</li><li>Participate in inventory restocking and organizing.</li><li>Open and close the cash register and store, including balancing cash drawers.</li><li>Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding returns and payments, and security practices.</li><li>Recognize security risks and thefts, and know-how to prevent/handle these situations.</li><li>Promote events in the store and community.</li><li>Assist with cleaning inside and outside the store, including windows, floors, displays, and dishes, to maintain public and employee health.</li><li>All other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Requirements:<ul><li>Ability to maintain a high level of positive customer service.</li><li>Passion for and ability to work with food, share this love, and spark culinary inspiration in customers.</li><li>Dependable, timely, and productive.</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and ethical behavior to manage the company&rsquo;s assets and focus on quality.</li><li>Ability to listen and communicate effectively and professionally.</li><li>Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods of activity.</li><li>Ability to adapt and multi-task.</li><li>Ability to bend, twist, squat, and lift up to 20 lbs.</li><li>Patience with customers, vendors, and co-workers.</li><li>Stay up-to-date on industry trends and all items available in-store.</li></ul>Education and experience:<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent</li><li>Basic retail, customer service, and business administration knowledge</li><li>Relevant product knowledge and training</li><li>Strong experience with and knowledge of preparing food</li><li>General math, Word, Excel, and internet skills, including social media</li></ul>Hours/Timing:<ul><li>5-10 hours per week, primarily Wednesdays, Saturdays, and/or Sundays</li><li>Ideal candidates can work two or more weekend shifts per month.</li><li>Hours can be flexible to accommodate other commitments.</li><li>Additional hours may be available during peak holiday seasons or to cover absences.</li></ul>Job Type: Part-timePay: $15.00 per hourBenefits:<ul><li>Employee discount</li></ul>Shift:<ul><li>Day shift</li></ul>Application Question(s):<ul><li>Are you reliably able to work on Wednesdays and weekends?</li><li>What is your favorite food to cook and why?</li><li>What makes you an exceptional candidate for this role?</li></ul>Work Location: In person
