We're looking for a new team member to join our friendly crew at The Carrot Seed in Downtown Brookings on Wednesdays, weekends, and evenings.
Job Objective: To assist in daily retail store operations, maintain store inventory and appearance, and lead engaging product tastings and demonstrations.
Job Duties:
- Welcome customers by greeting and offering assistance.
- Recommend, select, and help locate merchandise based on customer needs.
- Provide accurate and knowledgeable assistance with inquiries on product use and maintenance.
- Encourage customer engagement and satisfaction through positive experiences and building rapport.
- Assist in check-out procedures (including handling money, credit cards, gift cards, and checks), bagging purchases, and wrapping gifts.
- Conduct product samples and demos to showcase products for sale including prep and clean-up.
- Participate in inventory restocking and organizing.
- Open and close the cash register and store, including balancing cash drawers.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding returns and payments, and security practices.
- Recognize security risks and thefts, and know-how to prevent/handle these situations.
- Promote events in the store and community.
- Assist with cleaning inside and outside the store, including windows, floors, displays, and dishes, to maintain public and employee health.
- All other duties as assigned.

Education and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic retail, customer service, and business administration knowledge
- Relevant product knowledge and training
- Strong experience with and knowledge of preparing food
- General math, Word, Excel, and internet skills, including social media
Hours/Timing:
- 5-10 hours per week, primarily Wednesdays, Saturdays, and/or Sundays
- Ideal candidates can work two or more weekend shifts per month.
- Hours can be flexible to accommodate other commitments.
- Additional hours may be available during peak holiday seasons or to cover absences.
Job Type: Part-time
