DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONThe Billing Specialist is an energetic individual with strong customer service, communication, and time management skills. The ability to work independently and with minimal supervision is imperative for this position. The right candidate must be a well-organized team player with a positive attitude who is ready to bring your whole self to work each day.RESPONSIBILITIESBehavioral health billing with a variety of payers in North CarolinaProcess electronic medical billing using EHRAccurate and timely production of client invoicesWork directly with the insurance company, provider, and the patient to get a claim processed and paidRun edit reports that identify non-billable items, critical errors, and claims held for authorizationEnsure client contract compliance as it relates to invoicing and collectionsConsistent follow-up on A/R collectionsAssess and identify items at risk of non-payment from clients and escalate accordinglyApply medical payments into the EHR and research claim denials and exceptionsOrganization of daily work as well as day-to-day maintenance of patient chartsTime management is important in managing workload as well as meeting all deadlinesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of one (1) year of medical billing experience (preferably in behavioral health) OR at least one (1) year of experience working within Valant EHRKnowledge of billing processes, insurance verification, claim submission, payment posting, and accounts receivable managementProficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities, the capacity to problem solve and multi-task effectively, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentialityEvery effort has been made to make this job description as complete as possible; however, in no way is it stated or implied that these are the only duties you are required to perform.
