<div>Assists Research Coordinator with a variety of current Stone Laboratory research projects and visiting researchers at the laboratory; assists in sample collection aboard Stone Laboratory research boats on Lake Erie; prepares chemical solutions; assists in laboratory experiments; maintains and sustains cultures of algae; conducts analytical chemistry analysis of water samples; reports data to Ohio EPA; maintains clean analytical lab glass wear; works with concentrated and caustic acids; picks up samples collected by other researchers on the mainland; assists with Research Experience for Undergraduates Program; assists in preparation and maintenance of research facilities for utilization by visitors, faculty, researchers, and students; conducts inventory of supplies and equipment; maintains and repairs scientific equipment; provides assistance with generation of relevant laboratory reports; performs data entry and analysis as needed; performs other duties as assigned. Position is a temporary appointment that will last from April to mid-November, 2026 (flexible beginning and end dates); position located at Put-In-Bay, Ohio.

Education/Experience: High School graduate or Associate Degree required. 0-1 years of relevant experience/demonstrated ability in the conduct of routine field work required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred. Valid driver&rsquo;s license required; experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or analytical chemistry laboratories desired.
Successful completion of a background check is required.
Applicants hired will be subject to a pre consortium drug screening upon hire and additional drug screenings if drawn through a random process throughout the season.

The salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.

Research Aide

<div>The Post Doctoral Scholar will serve in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, College of Public Health at The Ohio State University and lead and support advanced research on West Nile virus (WNV) dynamics, with a primary focus on computational infectious disease modeling and quantitative analyses of field data. They will contribute to a multidisciplinary program exploring drivers and seasonality of WNV in a multi-species system. They will write code, use models and other quantitative or statistical analyses within life science, biological, or health research in order to test hypotheses about the biological system. They will write and assist with writing scientific manuscripts and prepare and give scientific presentations to communicate the results of this research. The Post Doctoral Scholar will also participate in other activities that aid development of the their researcher&rsquo;s career, including presenting research at scientific conferences, teaching, project management, developing new studies, and collaborating on ongoing projects.
Required Education:<ul><li>
PhD in biology, disease ecology, epidemiology (or related fields) or PhD in statistics, mathematics, or computer science (or related fields) with experience developing or using computational infectious disease models.</li></ul>
Required Experience:<ul><li>
Experience coding and using models with data to answer questions or test hypotheses is required.
</li><li>Strong scientific writing skills, experience in manuscript preparation, and the ability to communicate research in scientific posters and presentations are essential.</li></ul>
Desired Experience:
<ul><li>Candidates should have experience with quantitative and statistical analyses within life science, biological, or health research.</li></ul>
This position is contingent upon funding and will end on or before December 31, 2028, with possibility of renewal based on continued availability of funding and performance.
