Wealth Management Firm &mdash; Bloomfield Hills, MI Hybrid | 2 Days in Office WeeklyA well-established Bloomfield Hills wealth management firm is seeking a Part-Time Controller / Senior Accountant to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and serve as the primary internal accounting lead.This position will replace a current fractional accounting resource and is ideal for an experienced accountant who wants meaningful ownership and leadership responsibility without a full-time schedule.You will work closely with the firm&rsquo;s CFO and external CPA, helping ensure accurate financial reporting, strong processes, and smooth accounting operations across the organization.Position SummaryThis role owns the accounting function for a small professional services team. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating both strategically and tactically &mdash; able to manage financial processes while also executing core accounting work when needed.Schedule● Part-time (approximately 16&ndash;20 hours/week)● In-office in Bloomfield Hills two days per week● Remaining hours (as needed) flexible/remoteEngagement Type● Part-time employee or independent contractorKey ResponsibilitiesAccounting Leadership &amp; Oversight● Serve as the firm&rsquo;s primary accounting lead● Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger● Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes● Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules. Co-ordinatewith parent company representatives on financial reporting and issues.● Partner with the CFO on financial insights and reporting needs● Coordinate with external CPA for tax filings and complianceAccounts Payable &amp; Accounts Receivable● Oversee and execute AP and AR processes● Post invoicing, cash applications and monitor A/R● Manage vendor payments and expense tracking● Maintain strong documentation and approval workflows● Monitor cash flow and receivable agingFinancial Operations● Record journal entries, accruals, and adjustments● Perform account reconciliations● Maintain accounting records within Great Plains● Support budgeting, forecasting, and analysis initiativesPayroll and Human Resource Functions● Manage Semi-monthly payroll with ADP, process annual and special bonuses● Process 401k, HSA and FSA contributions and annual form 5500.● Manage health, disability and life insurance renewals● Onboard new hires and maintain employee recordsQualifications● 5+ years of progressive accounting experience● Experience operating at a Senior Accountant or Controller level● Strong GAAP knowledge● Experience owning accounting operations in a small or mid-sized organization● Comfortable handling both oversight and hands-on execution● Experience with Great Plains and/or Workday preferred● Strong organizational and communication skills● High level of independence and accountabilityIdeal Candidate - Youmay be a great fit if you:● Previously worked in public accounting or as a Controller/Senior Accountant● Want meaningful responsibility without a full-time role● Enjoy being the go-to accounting professional inside an organization● Are comfortable rolling up your sleeves in a small-team environment● Appreciate working directly with leadership in a collaborative settingWork Environment● Professional wealth management office● Collaborative small team● Stable organization with established leadership● Long-term opportunity with flexibilityCompensationCompetitive and commensurate with experience.
