Job Title: Vehicle Engineer &ndash; Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle DesignLocation: Indianapolis, IN Employment Type: Full-TimeAbout the Role: We are seeking a talented Vehicle Engineer to lead the design and development of wheelchair accessible vehicles from concept to launch. This role requires hands-on experience in vehicle systems engineering, prototype development, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and reliable vehicle designs.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Engineer, design, and develop new vehicle conversions using CAD (Inventor).</li><li>Design mechanisms, suspensions, structures, closures (doors &amp; liftgates), and integrate all vehicle systems.</li><li>Plan for design, procurement, assembly, and validation in alignment with project timelines and Stage Gate (APQP) processes.</li><li>Ensure vehicle designs meet budget, quality, and performance targets.</li><li>Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and Portfolio teams to meet project requirements.</li><li>Suggest low-cost design alternatives, standardization, and common designs.</li><li>Build and design prototype vehicles and participate in design reviews.</li><li>Continuously improve designs, processes, and project timing while maintaining specifications.</li></ul>Required Skills &amp; Experience:<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Engineering; Master&rsquo;s in the US mandatory.</li><li>Experience taking products from concept through launch, ideally multiple complex projects.</li><li>Strong mechanism design and vehicle integration knowledge.</li><li>Proficiency in structural design, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and LEAN principles.</li><li>Understanding of fuel, exhaust, cooling, and braking systems, materials, and industry standards.</li><li>Experience with vehicle compartments such as closures and suspensions.</li><li>Knowledge of quality, design, and validation tools: FEA, DFA/M, DOE, D/PFMEA, DVP&amp;R, GD&amp;T, tolerance stack-up, 8D problem-solving.</li><li>Proficiency in Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault, MS Office, Epicor (ERP).</li><li>Strong attention to detail, self-starter, and able to meet project deadlines.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Prototype fabrication and welding experience preferred.</li></ul>Additional Requirements:<ul><li>Stable job history: 2&ndash;3 years with current employer and actively employed.</li><li>Location: Must be based in Indianapolis.</li></ul>Job Type: Full-timePay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per yearWork Location: On the road
