The Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, and supports software applications that align with UniGroup’s business objectives. This role contributes to both new development and system enhancements by writing clean, maintainable code and collaborating closely with peers, product partners, and senior engineers.
 The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation, a collaborative mindset, and a desire to continue growing their skills while delivering high-quality solutions across UniGroup’s software platforms.
 
What You’ll Do
 <ul>
<li>Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions using modern tools and practices such as Java, Spring Boot, REST services, React, React Native, PostgreSQL, Kafka, TypeScript, Node, Git, CI/CD, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes</li>
<li>Translate user stories and technical requirements into working features with guidance from senior engineers</li>
<li>Contribute to code reviews and testing efforts, applying quality standards related to performance, maintainability, and reliability</li>
<li>Support application deployments and monitoring, including troubleshooting and resolving production issues</li>
<li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and estimate technical work aligned with sprint goals and priorities</li>
<li>Maintain and enhance existing systems, including participation in legacy modernization efforts and documentation</li>
<li>Participate in knowledge sharing, mentoring, and continuous learning within the engineering team</li>
<li>Suggest improvements to code quality, team processes, or tooling when appropriate</li>
<li>Perform other duties as assigned</li>
</ul>
What You’ll Bring
 Required Qualifications
 <ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent practical experience</li>
<li>2+ years of experience in software development and/or application support</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to write, test, debug, and review code in a collaborative team environment</li>
<li>Familiarity with modern development practices, version control, and CI/CD workflows</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
 <ul>
<li>Exposure to supporting or enhancing legacy systems (e.g., mainframe environments)</li>
<li>Experience working in agile or iterative development teams</li>
<li>Curiosity, strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn from peers and mentors</li>

Software Engineer

Location: Fenton, MO (Hybrid)
 
Position Overview
 The Software Engineering Manager leads a team of software engineers in the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions supporting UniGroup’s Mobile and OX platforms. This role blends hands-on technical contribution with people leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
 Working closely with Product, Engineering leadership, and business stakeholders, the Software Engineering Manager drives team performance, strengthens technical practices, and fosters a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning. This role requires strong experience designing, developing, and optimizing full-stack, interactive web applications in a modern cloud environment.
 
Responsibilities
 <ul>
<li>Lead, support, and mentor a high-performing engineering team through technical guidance, coaching, and hands-on collaboration</li>
<li>Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions using modern tools and frameworks, including Java, Spring Boot, React, React Native, PostgreSQL, Kafka, TypeScript, Node, GraphQL, Git, CI/CD, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes</li>
<li>Spend approximately 70% of time contributing to software development and code reviews alongside the team</li>
<li>Conduct code reviews and pair programming sessions to reinforce engineering best practices and code quality</li>
<li>Oversee day-to-day team operations including sprint planning, execution, prioritization, and incident response</li>
<li>Monitor team performance and drive continuous improvement through metrics, governance, and process enhancements</li>
<li>Partner with engineering leadership and technical leads to define standards, ensure architectural consistency, and advance modernization efforts</li>
<li>Collaborate closely with product partners, business stakeholders, and end users to design solutions and align technical priorities</li>
<li>Conduct regular 1:1s, manage goal setting and performance reviews, and support team engagement and development</li>
<li>Participate in hiring, onboarding, and talent development initiatives to ensure strong technical and cultural alignment</li>
<li>Perform other duties and special projects as assigned</li>
</ul>
Qualifications
 Required Qualifications

<li>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent practical experience</li>
<li>5+ years of relevant experience, including leading engineering projects or teams</li>
<li>Strong understanding of full-stack development, modern cloud platforms, and microservices architecture</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to guide technical execution, mentor engineers, and collaborate effectively across functions</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
 <ul>
<li>Experience supporting or enhancing legacy systems (e.g., mainframe environments)</li>
<li>Experience working in agile or product-centric delivery environments</li>
<li>Strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership style</li>
