<div><div><b>Position Overview:</b></div><div>
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant with a strong background in nonprofit accounting practices. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization, ensuring compliance with government funding requirements, and supporting accurate financial reporting.</div><div>
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with government grant reimbursement processes, financial service reimbursement reporting, and familiarity with the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA) Green SAGE grant management system.</div><div>
This is an on-site position. Limited remote work may be permitted on an occasional basis, as approved by leadership.</div><div><br>
<b>
Key Responsibilities:</b></div><div><b>
Financial Reporting &amp; General Accounting:</b></div><ul><li>
Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger entries.</li><li>
Perform monthly account reconciliations, including bank and grant accounts.</li><li>
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.</li><li>
Maintain supporting documentation for all financial transactions.</li><li>
Support preparation of financial statements and internal reports.</li></ul><div><b>
Government Grants &amp; Reimbursements:</b></div><ul><li>
Prepare and submit government grant reimbursement requests.</li><li>
Create and compile financial service reimbursement reports in accordance with funding agency requirements.</li><li>
Ensure expenditures are properly coded and aligned with grant budgets.</li><li>
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local funding guidelines.</li><li>
Monitor grant budgets and assist program staff with financial reporting requirements.</li></ul><div><b>
NJDCA Green SAGE System:</b></div><ul><li>
Prepare and upload documentation into the NJDCA Green SAGE grant management system.</li><li>
Ensure timely and accurate submission of required financial documentation.</li><li>
Track and reconcile reimbursement status within the system.</li></ul><div><b>
Compliance &amp; Audit Support:</b></div><ul><li>
Maintain organized and audit-ready documentation.</li><li>
Assist in preparation for external audits and monitoring visits.</li><li>
Ensure adherence to nonprofit accounting standards and internal controls.</li></ul><div><b>
Collaboration &amp; Support:</b></div><ul><li>
Work closely with program staff to ensure proper documentation of expenses.</li><li>
Support the Director of Finance and Accounting Manager in financial analysis and reporting.</li><li>
Participate in process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and compliance.</li></ul><div><b>
Qualifications:</b></div><div><b>
Education &amp; Experience:</b></div><ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.</li><li>
Minimum of 3&ndash;5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization.</li><li>
Demonstrated experience with government grant reimbursement processes.</li><li>
Experience preparing financial service reimbursement reports.</li><li>
Familiarity with NJDCA Green SAGE system strongly preferred.</li></ul><div><b>
Skills &amp; Competencies:</b></div><ul><li>
Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles and fund accounting.</li><li>
Knowledge of federal and state grant compliance requirements.</li><li>
High attention to detail and accuracy.</li><li>
Strong organizational and time management skills.</li><li>
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.</li><li>
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.</li><li>
Clear written and verbal communication skills.</li></ul><div><b>
Work Environment:</b></div><div>
This is an on-site position based in Newark, NJ. Occasional remote work may be permitted with prior approval. The role requires consistent in-person collaboration with finance and program teams.</div><div>
