Youth Development Teacher</b></div><div><br>
The Youth Development Teacher works directly with youth in a Community Care Licensed before and/or after-school setting at either a YMCA facility or a local elementary school site. As part of a team, they impact youth&rsquo;s lives by helping youth learn, grow, and develop. By exemplifying and teaching skills through both formal and informal lessons, in a safe and supportive environment, the Youth Development Teacher leads youth in becoming great citizens. Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Youth Development Teacher leads the program management and supervision of a group of children 5-12 years of age, along with the planning, implementation, and facilitation of activities and events for participants.</div><div></div><div><br>

Schedule</b></div><ul><li>
Monday through Friday, 1:30pm to 6pm (must be available 3 days/week to be considered)</li></ul>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Implement age-appropriate program activities that engage students in active and meaningful experiences and in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA of San Diego County
</li><li>Actively supervise program participants, ensuring their guidance and safety at all times
</li><li>Communicate in a timely, positive and professional manner with all participants, families, school and district personnel, and community partners
</li><li>Collaborate with school personnel and program partners to align high quality academic activities and coordinate student services
</li><li>Provide positive behavior guidance that supports the developmental, social-emotional, and physical needs of all students
</li><li>Ensure that program meets the requirements of the YMCA of San Diego County</li><li>
Perform daily duties that ensure space is properly maintained, organized, clean, and safe
</li><li>Follow emergency procedures appropriately to ensure the safety of the participants and staff
</li><li>Provide leadership to all assigned YMCA Youth Development Aide</li><li>
Must be highly dependable and have the ability to be flexible with change within a daily schedule</li><li>
Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation</li><li>
Physical ability to lead sports, games and curriculum activities, monitor youth behavior, and perform general housekeeping responsibilities</li></ul>
Qualifications:
<ul><li>Must be 18 years of age or older and a high school graduate.
</li><li>Completion, with passing grades, of 12 units in Child Development (CD) or related field. (Related fields can include: Arts, Early Childhood Education, Education, Humanities, Physical Education, Psychology, Recreation, Sociology, and Theater)<ul><li>
Completion, with passing grades, of 6 units with 6 more units of current enrollment in Child Development or related field will be considered.
</li></ul></li><li>Minimum of 6 months working in a child and youth development, education, or comparable setting preferred
</li><li>Basic computer skills and ability to speak, read, and write the English language. Additional languages are highly desirable
</li><li>Must have a sincere interest in working with children 5-12 years of age and the ability to relate to children and adults in a professional manner</li><li>
Criminal record clearance in accordance with YMCA and Community Care Licensing guidelines.
</li><li>Successfully pass a physical exam and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of hire. (TB test results need to be current within 1 year.)</li><li>
Must provide proof of measles (MMR), pertussis (TDap), and influenza immunizations within 7 days of hire. (TDap needs to be current within 10 years, MMR does not need to be renewed.)
</li><li>Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire, unless specified otherwise on contract, and must be from one of the following:<ul><li>
American Red Cross</li><li>
American Heart Association</li><li>

Youth Development Teacher

<div>Overview:
<div>
The Leave &amp; Accommodation Specialist will oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans.</div><div></div><div><br>

Temporary full-time position</li><li>
Estimated contract end date is 04/01/2026</li><li>
Hybrid work enviroment, at least 2 days in office from 8am-5pm</li></ul>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules. Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave</li><li>
Handles the FMLA leave administration process from the employees initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use</li><li>
Maintains communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between employees and their managers during leave</li><li>
Advises managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits</li><li>
Oversees the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, workers compensation, or other leave(s)</li><li>
Facilitates other leave requests, which may include accommodation requests under the ADA</li><li>
Administers other company time-off programs as assigned in accordance with internal policy and applicable laws</li><li>
Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices</li><li>
Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files</li><li>
Other duties as assigned</li></ul>
Qualifications:
<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in a related field required</li><li>
3+ years' experience in Human Resources with leave of absences concentration</li><li>
Expert knowledge of the benefits function, processes, and leave administration</li><li>
Working knowledge of Human Resources related laws and procedures</li><li>
Expert HRIS systems and MS Office products</li><li>
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills</li><li>
Strong written and oral communication skills</li><li>
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality</li><li>
Strong attention to detail and accuracy</li><li>
Licensing, state law and our government funders are required that all staff (hybrid, remote, or onsite) within YMVA of San Diego County are fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications</li><li>
CPR and First Aid certification is required within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:<ul><li>
