Trainee ManagerJob SummaryThe Trainee Manager supports the day-to-day execution of waste collection, processing, recycling, and disposal activities at an operational site. This role is designed for candidates with a college degree and 3+ years of hands-on industry experience, who are transitioning toward leadership positions. The trainee will assist in managing operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, coordinating teams, and improving efficiency across waste handling processes.Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Support:- Assist in overseeing daily waste management operations including collection, sorting, transfer, recycling, and disposal.- Support scheduling and coordination of collection routes, vehicle dispatch, and site activities- Monitor material flow within the facility to ensure efficient handling and processingCompliance &amp; Environmental Standards- Ensure all operations comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations- Assist in inspections, audits, and corrective action implementation- Promote a strong safety culture across field and site operations- Support incident reporting, investigation, and preventive measures- Ensure proper handling of hazardous and non-hazardous wastePerformance Monitoring- Track and analyze key operational metrics such as: Route efficiency and service completion - Identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvementsTeam Coordination-Support supervision of front-line staff including drivers, sorters, and site workers-Assist with shift scheduling and workforce allocation- Participate in onboarding and training of employees on safety and operational processesVendor &amp; Contractor Coordination- Coordinate with third-party haulers, recycling partners, and disposal facilities- Monitor service delivery and compliance with contract requirementsReporting &amp; Documentation- Maintain accurate logs for waste volumes, compliance records, and operational performance- Assist in preparing reports for management and regulatory agenciesQualificationsBachelor&rsquo;s degree (required) in:Environmental Science orLogistics / Supply Chain prBusiness Administration orEngineering or related fieldExperience- Minimum 3+ years of experience in: Waste management operations (preferred), OR Logistics, transportation, or industrial operationsExperience should include hands-on operational work, not necessarily full managerial responsibilitySkills &amp; Competencies- Knowledge of waste management processes (collection, recycling, disposal)- Understanding of environmental and safety regulations- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills- Basic leadership and team coordination capability- Ability to work in a physically active, fast-paced environment- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)Preferred Qualifications- Familiarity with EPA, OSHA, or local environmental regulations- Experience with waste tracking systems or route management tools ( Samsara and Fleetio)Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)- Safety compliance and incident reduction- Waste processing efficiency and turnaround time- Recycling and diversion rates- Cost control and operational improvements- Team productivityWork Location: In person
