Duties
- Design and deliver engaging science lessons that incorporate curriculum development principles and align with state and national standards.
- Facilitate laboratory experiments, dissections, and scientific research projects to enhance experiential learning.
- Integrate learning technology tools to create interactive lessons and assessments that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering an inclusive environment that encourages inquiry and participation.
- Prepare students for standardized testing through targeted instruction and tutoring sessions.
- Mentor students in scientific research projects, guiding their exploration of topics such as genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and organic chemistry.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, instructional design, and school-wide initiatives to improve science education quality.
- Conduct regular assessments of student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain detailed records of academic achievement.
- Participate in professional development opportunities related to higher education teaching methods, special education strategies, Montessori approaches (if applicable), and research laboratory techniques.
- Support educational administration tasks including lesson planning, proofreading instructional materials, and contributing to library services for resource enhancement.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of scientific disciplines including biology (cell biology, genetics, microbiology), chemistry (organic chemistry), physics (geometry, trigonometry, calculus), and mathematics (algebra, discrete math).
- Proven experience in classroom management and behavior management strategies to create a positive learning environment.
- Proficiency with learning technology platforms and instructional design tools to enhance lesson delivery.
- Laboratory experience with dissection techniques, research laboratory procedures, and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with students of varying abilities as well as collaborating with colleagues and parents.
- Ability to develop engaging lesson plans tailored to diverse student needs while preparing students for standardized assessments.
- Experience in tutoring students individually or in groups to reinforce scientific concepts.
- Familiarity with higher education teaching methodologies and research practices in science fields.
- Skills in mentoring students through scientific research projects or science competitions.
- Knowledge of special education accommodations and behavior management techniques for diverse learners.
- Ability to review educational materials thoroughly for accuracy and clarity; proofreading skills are essential for instructional content development.
