Applications for the 2026 Ohio Secretary of State Summer Internship Program are now being accepted. This internship is located in Columbus, Ohio, and is open to current undergrad college students exploring careers in (but not limited to): political science, communications, business, and public administration.

Interns may work 20–40 hours per week and gain hands-on experience while earning course credit (as approved by their college or university).
We are seeking motivated, curious, and service-minded students who want to support Ohio voters, entrepreneurs, and communities. Successful interns are team-oriented, detail-focused, and excited to learn how state government works from the inside.
The Secretary of State’s Office includes a variety of divisions, and placements will be based on interest areas and project needs.
- Gain a broad understanding of the Secretary of State’s role in elections administration and business services
- Support projects in external affairs, communications, elections, public integrity, operations, and administration
- Assist staff in preparing for elections, public outreach events, and other office initiatives
- Participate in professional development opportunities and learn from experienced public service professionals.
- Contribute to work that directly impacts Ohioans
Qualifications
- Be enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited college, university, or community college.
- Be in good academic standing (minimum 2.5 GPA recommended).
- Demonstrate interest in government, elections, communications, or public service.
