Northrop Grumman is seeking System Engineers for an internship opportunity. This position will be located at our Mission Systems Sector in Rolling Meadows, IL.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Navigation, Targeting, & Survivability (NT&S) Division.
You’ll Have an Opportunity to:
Create and refine Model Based System Engineering products
Trace requirements to test plans/procedures/results to track program progress and identify any gaps or inconsistencies.
Update and maintain system drawings and documents
Evaluate complex electronics systems from hardware/software design through aircraft installation
Execute integration test activities in System Integration Labs (SILs)
Analyze and Model data in support of algorithm development and optimization
Basic Qualifications
A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2026
Be majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or closely related Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) degree
Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2026.
A final DoD Secret clearance is required to start (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
A current/active DoD Secret clearance
It will be helpful, though not required, for your course work to have included:
Modeling Simulation: GitHub, Digital System Model (DSM), Simulation Development, and/or
System Design: DOORS, ClearCase/ClearQuest, MATLAB, Python, Digital signal processing, Sensors, RF, RF Chain Analysis, HFSS, ANSYS, Optics and/or
Integration & Testing: MATLAB, Python, JIRA, Cortex, JAVA, CUDA, Hardware Troubleshooting (Oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal analyzers), and/or
Mission Modeling: CAMEO, AFSIM, OpenCL, SysML, Model Based Engineering (MBE) concepts and tools, Rhapsody, Agile development, Optics, EO/IR
Intern Pay Range:
Bachelor’s: $19.75 to $36.25 per hour
Master’s: $35.50 to $44.75 per hour
At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.
