JOB TITLE: People & Culture Student

POSITION OPENINGS: 1 (new position)

STATUS: Full Time, Contact (May – August 2026)

LOCATION: Remote in Ontario, Canada (Candidates are required to reside in the province of Ontario (or National Capital Region), maintain a private and safe workspace, and have a high-quality internet connection.)

HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours/week

HIRING RANGE: $18.50 – 19.50/hour

Job Summary

The People & Culture student supports the P&C department by assisting with routine administrative and operational tasks. The P&C student will gain practical experience across key HR areas such as recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and maintaining records, wile also supporting ongoing departmental initiatives and routine operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment efforts by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews and conducting initial phone screens

  • Coordinate onboarding logistics, including scheduling and ensuring completion of new hire documentation

  • Provide general administrative support to the P&C team

  • Help maintain and update employee electronic records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

  • Assist in organizing employee engagement and wellness programs.

  • Contribute to P&C projects and initiatives as assigned, specifically leading a future focused student onboarding program

  • Other duties as assigned

CONTRIBUTES TO A HEALTHY AND SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT (at all times)

  • Complies with all Health and Safety policies, procedures and company rules established in WSPS Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS).

  • Contributes to promoting a healthy, safe, and respectful culture

  • Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations

Skills, Knowledge, Expertise

Minimum

  • Currently enrolled in a post secondary education in Human Resources, or Business Administration

  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity

Preferred

  • Previous work experience considered an asset

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and ability to travel as needed

  • To support success in building connections, inclusion and collaboration, a minimum level of in person presence for the purposes of meetings is required for all team members on a quarterly basis.

  • An all-employee meeting (Staff Days or equivalent) will be organized annually. All employees are required to attend the annual meeting in person. Occasional team meetings may be required in person.

To be eligible under the Canada Summer Jobs Program, applicants must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period

  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
