Required Qualifications:
1. Valid Washington State teacher's certificate with endorsment in Library Media
2. Satisfactory evaluations
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Elementary teaching experience.
2. Learning Resources endorsement.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of computer science, ability to implement computerized library circulation system and lead computer implementation school wide.
4. Demonstrated ability to work with students of all ability levels: pre-primer to gifted elementary.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of the curriculum content areas as they relate to elementary education.
6. Ability to work with parents and staff in planning library curriculum and materials selection.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of the grant process and the ability for leadership in this area if needed.
8. Ability to organize school-wide reading events.
9. Demonstrated ability to interact positively with staff, students and parents.
10. Evidence of ability to support building and district goals, including working with groups of children across grade levels preK-5.
11. Willingness to make school-wide decisions based on "what's best for kids".
12. Willingness to create an Accelerated Reader school-wide reading program and coordinate with staff members and PTO to enhance program.
13. Demonstrate ability to keep library neat, orderly, and presentable to staff and community members at all times.
14. Punctual and consistent attendance.
Job Description:
1. Motivates and inspires the reading of children’s literature through a variety of activities.
2. Works with individual and small groups on information skills, reference work, book selection and other independent activities.
3. Organizes and promotes interest areas within the center.
4. Teacher units of information skills.
5. Demonstrates the proper use of technology in the instructional process.
6. Develops a climate that encourages students to take full advantage of the resource center and keeps faculty and students informed about new books, materials, equipment and services.
7. Oversees computer needs/problems and communicates those technology needs to district tech support.
8. Plans and administers for the school curricula program as defined below:
a. Selects print and non-print materials that are of interest and motivating to its users.
b. Selects the best available print and non-print materials to supplement the school’s curriculum.
c. Supervises the cataloging and/or processing of all incoming materials to ensure maximum availability.
d. Evaluates the collection of materials annually.
9. Consults with staff to plan for maximum center utilization.
10. Supervises and trains library helpers, i.e., paraeducators, secretaries, parents, students, and volunteers.
11. Prepares and monitors library budget and reports.
12. Utilizes the latest technology in the circulation and management of library/media materials.
13. Provides leadership, organization, coordination, and monitoring for the Accelerated Reader Program.
14. Provide support reading instruction up to one hour per day, if needed.
15. Ability to make decisions "Based on What's Best for Kids".
16. Other duties as assigned.

Lifting: The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F +. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.
Application Procedure: In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date. In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled in-building after the eight day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.
Out-of-District applicants must complete the online District application and attach a letter of interest, resume, valid Washington state teaching credential, and copies of transcripts with degree posted. All hires are subject to completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
