TITLE OF POSITION: Payroll and Benefits Specialist

REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources; Corporate Controller

DUTIES OF POSITION: The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for accurately calculating and processing payroll including benefits, taxes, PTO and sick leave, as well as deductions and reimbursements

Work hours: Normal business hours Monday-Friday with flexibility on start and end times

Compensation: $60k – $80k depending on experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Accurately calculate and process bi-weekly payrolls for 4 entities on 2 payroll software platforms
  • Reviews all manual changes with appropriate parties during each payroll processing period for accuracy
  • Promptly onboard new employees to Employee Navigator and the payroll platforms; remove when a termination comes in
  • Work with HR team on any employee changes or updates
  • Work closely with the Accounting and Finance team on reconciliation of all benefit invoices
  • Correspond and maintain a great working relationship with our benefits broker and 401k plan administrator to address any employee issues or questions that may arise.
  • Respond to employees in a timely manner regarding questions around payroll or benefits that come in through email, calls, and messaging
  • Participate in projects and initiatives to improve systems and procedures
  • Help lead open enrollment periods to provide education and support to the staff with questions they may have.
  • Helps lead the annual ACA filing for all entities
  • Ability to maintain compliance with HIPAA requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Ability to work as a team member, establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
  • Ability to meet the staff as a positive, friendly and professional representative of the organization.
  • Be obsessed with accuracy and passion for providing great service to our employees
  • Minimum of high school education equivalent.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Previous experience with robust payroll software platforms
  • Valid drivers license and carry personal auto liability insurance coverage.
