2nd Grade Teacher – Nellis Campus (Las Vegas, NV)

Location: 1780 Betty Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89156
Start Date: Summer 2026
Compensation: $54,000 – $60,813 annually (based on years of K–12 teacher-of-record experience)
Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site

Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education.

As AMS expands into Nevada, we are seeking passionate and data-driven 2nd Grade Teachers to join our Nellis campus founding team. This role is ideal for educators who are committed to delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and building strong foundational academic and social-emotional skills for students.


AMS teachers are collaborative, culturally responsive, and dedicated to helping all scholars achieve at high levels.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Student Achievement

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction using AMS curriculum and instructional frameworks.

  • Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.

  • Use assessment data to monitor progress and adjust instruction to maximize student growth.

  • Foster strong foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, and critical thinking.

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Participate in weekly professional development and grade-level collaboration meetings.

  • Work closely with instructional leaders and colleagues to continuously improve teaching practices.

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and academic excellence.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and academic goals.

  • Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.

Scholar Culture & Support

  • Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support student behavior and social-emotional development.

  • Create a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment.

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction using AMS curriculum and instructional frameworks.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Nevada Department of Education (NDE) teaching license in a relevant subject area by the time of appointment.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Ability to pass required state and federal background checks.

  • Commitment to serving students in Title I and multilingual communities.

  • Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction.

  • Willingness to implement rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum within the AMS instructional framework.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) or more years of direct K–12 teaching experience as a teacher of record.

  • Experience working in Title I or high-need school settings.

  • Experience differentiating instruction for multilingual learners.

  • Strong classroom management and student engagement strategies.

  • Experience collaborating within professional learning communities.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary:
$54,000 – $60,813 annually (based on years of K–12 teacher-of-record experience)
