Key responsibilities
A. Creative Direction & Storytelling
- Shape the design narrative, moodboards, references, and visual language for façades and public-facing architecture.
- Run fast design sprints; present clear A/B/C options with rationale (form, proportion, texture, light).
B. Façade Concept Design
- Develop concept systems: shading devices, screens, double skins, stone/metal/GFRC/UHPC claddings, canopies & skylights.
- Define composition rules (modules, joints, hierarchy) and “hero moments” for entries, corners, crowns, and night scenes.
- Climate-aware thinking (hot-arid): intuitive targets for shading, glare control, and comfort—handed to engineers for validation.
C. Parametric & R&D
- Use Grasshopper/Houdini to explore patterns, panelization, density gradients, and cost/constructability levers.
- Prototype interactive sliders (aperture, depth, perforation %) for live client reviews.
D. Visualization & Motion
- Produce photoreal stills and short design films; set cameras, composition, lighting, and color grading.
- Prepare real-time walkthroughs (UE/Enscape/Twinmotion) and lightweight VR for sign-off.
E. Materiality (CMF) & Light
- Curate material palettes (stone, metals, frits, films, glass textures) with sample boards and mock-ups.
- Day/night lighting intent, glow strategy, and landmark visibility; coordinate with lighting designers.
F. Communication & Handover
- Build crisp pitch decks and one-pagers; guide interns on diagramming and visual standards.
- Package SD handover: intent drawings, key sections/nodes, material sheets, and a “design rules” kit for engineers/BIM.
G. Collaboration
- Co-create with engineers, structural/MEP, and vendors for feasibility and VE without diluting the concept.
- Attend sample reviews and aesthetic mock-ups; provide art-direction notes.
Qualifications
- B.Arch/M.Arch; 5–10+ years with a façade concept + arch portfolio.
- Demonstrated parametric work (Grasshopper/Houdini) and design films.
- GCC/UAE exposure preferred; comfort collaborating with code/compliance teams (you set intent; others detail it).
Tools Experienced in
- Design/Parametric: Rhino + Grasshopper, Houdini
- Viz: 3ds Max/Blender + V-Ray/Corona, Unreal/Enscape/Twinmotion; Adobe PS/AE/PR.
- Diagrams/Docs: InDesign, Illustrator, Figma; basic Revit literacy for SD handoff.
Portfolio requirements
- 8–12 images (hero façades, night shots, close-ups), 1–2 design films (≤60s), and 1 parametric study (with sliders/logic notes).
- 2 SD packages showing “design rules” + key nodes you directed.
