3D Laser Scanner Operator / LiDAR Survey Specialist

Switzel International is looking for an experienced 3D Laser Scanner Operator / LiDAR Survey Specialist with hands-on experience in terrestrial laser scanning, mobile LiDAR scanning, point cloud data capture, registration, and processing for building and infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate should have practical site experience operating professional laser scanning equipment such as FARO, Leica, Trimble, or similar 3D laser scanning systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform 3D laser scanning activities at construction and infrastructure project sites.
• Operate terrestrial and mobile LiDAR scanners for accurate site data capture.
• Plan scanning workflows including scan locations, targets/control points, and coverage strategy.
• Perform scanning of:
• Buildings and facilities
• MEP systems
• Infrastructure assets
• Utilities and manholes
• Existing conditions for Scan-to-BIM projects
• Carry out point cloud registration, alignment, cleaning, and quality checks.
• Process and manage point cloud datasets for BIM and engineering teams.
• Verify accuracy of scans against survey control points.
• Extract measurements and prepare scan reports.
• Coordinate with BIM modelers, engineers, and site teams.
• Maintain scanning equipment and ensure proper calibration and handling.
• Follow project QA/QC and HSE requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in 3D laser scanning / LiDAR surveying.
• Proven experience operating:
• FARO Focus Series Laser Scanners
• Leica RTC360 / BLK / ScanStation Series
• Trimble X-Series or similar scanners
• Mobile LiDAR / SLAM scanners (preferred)
• Strong experience with:
• Point cloud capture workflows
• Registration and processing
• Scan accuracy verification
• Survey control integration
• Experience using software such as:
• FARO SCENE
• Leica Cyclone REGISTER 360
• Trimble RealWorks
• Autodesk ReCap
• CloudCompare or similar tools
• Understanding of Scan-to-BIM workflows and LOD 400/500 requirements.
• Ability to work independently on site and manage daily scanning targets.
• Experience in Qatar/GCC projects will be an advantage.
• Valid Qatar driving license preferred.
• Immediate availability preferred.

Preferred Experience

• Infrastructure and utility scanning projects.
• Manhole scanning and underground utility documentation.
• As-built verification using point clouds.
• Large-scale construction projects (airports, metro, industrial facilities, high-rise buildings).
