3rd Grade Language Arts & Social Studies Teacher

St. Sava Academy – Chicago, IL

St. Sava Academy is a dual-language (Serbian/English), Preschool through 8th-grade school located near O’Hare Airport in Chicago, IL. Now in our 24th year, we serve over 200 students in a family-like, close-knit community grounded in the Orthodox Christian tradition. Our small class sizes, collaborative culture, and warm atmosphere make St. Sava a truly special place to teach and learn.

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic 3rd Grade Language Arts & Social Studies Teacher for the 2025–2026 academic year to join our exceptional faculty.

Position Overview

This part-time position (12:30–3:30 PM, Monday–Friday) focuses on English-language instruction and the core subjects of Language Arts and Social Studies for 3rd grade. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching, committed to student growth, and eager to contribute to our mission and community.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the emotional, academic, and social development of students through engaging, student-centered instruction.
  • Creating and implementing lesson plans that align with school curriculum and standards.
  • Integrating communication and public speaking skill development into instruction.
  • Using student data to inform instruction and differentiate learning.
  • Conducting assessments, including standardized testing, and preparing students for MAP testing.
  • Employing effective instructional methods.
  • Maintaining positive, collaborative, and professional relationships with parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
  • Modeling and upholding the values of an Orthodox Christian educational environment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Education, English, History, or a related field.
  • Passion for educating children in a nurturing, faith-based environment.
  • Flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families.

Preferred:

  • State of Illinois Teaching Certificate (PEL) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience teaching in private, parochial, or dual-language school settings.

All candidates offered a conditional position must pass a background check and provide documentation verifying legal eligibility to work in the United States.

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
