Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans in science that incorporate curriculum development, learning technology, and inquiry-based activities.
• Deliver engaging lessons that cover key scientific concepts such as biology, physics, earth sciences, and environmental science tailored to 5th-grade learners.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively through strong classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies to create a positive learning environment.
• Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, including standardized testing preparations.
• Incorporate literacy education and math skills into science lessons to enhance interdisciplinary learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, special education accommodations, and early intervention strategies to support diverse learners, including students with autism or those requiring additional childcare support.
• Mentor students by providing individualized tutoring and extra support to help them succeed academically and develop critical thinking skills.
• Utilize library services and educational resources to enrich science instruction and foster curiosity about the natural world.
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school administration regarding student progress, behavioral concerns, or special needs requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science Education, or a related field; relevant teaching certification required.
• Proven classroom experience teaching elementary students, particularly in 5th grade or similar age group.
• Strong knowledge of science curriculum standards, lesson planning techniques, and assessment methods.
• Experience working with children with diverse needs, including those requiring special education or early intervention services.
• Familiarity with learning technology tools, digital resources, and literacy education strategies.
• Excellent communication skills to engage students, collaborate with colleagues, and connect with families effectively.
• Ability to manage classroom behavior proactively while fostering a respectful and inclusive environment.
• Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and experience preparing students for assessments is preferred.

Pay: $43,187.91 - $60,054.26 per year
