JOB SUMMARY
The teacher is the primary instructional delivery person in the classroom. Student learning and growth are primarily dependent on the work and efforts of the classroom teacher. The position is demanding, varied, and complex. The classroom teacher must have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and be well trained in content knowledge and research based effective teaching strategies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Embrace and implement innovative instructional strategies.
2. Be flexible and adapt to student and school needs.
3. Be organized, reflective, participatory, and punctual.
4. Be passionate about instructional excellence.
5. Focus on making learning visible through effective student engagement.
6. Work cooperatively with other team members to improve the instructional program.
7. Effectively use computers and technology to support instruction and student learning.
8. Evaluate and differentiate student progress and adapt individual programs to meet student needs.
9. Implement Common Core curriculum with rigor, purpose, and planning.
10. Maintain appropriate licensure and continuing education hours as required.
11. Comply with applicable District, state, local, and federal laws, rules and regulations.
12. Adhere to all standards established by Commission on Teacher Credentialing for the California Standards for the Teaching Profession.
13. Adhere to all California Administrative Rules related to licensed educators.
14. Attend work regularly.

MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Marginal duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Serve on District committees and councils.
2. Report issues to authorities as necessary (animal control, suspicious activity, etc.)
3. Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to the supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may supervise volunteers, student aides, and educational assistants. All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment at all times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree.

2. Must have and maintain a valid California Teaching license appropriate to assignment with both proper authorizations and endorsements.

3. Must have and maintain a CLAD endorsement.
4. Submission of professional application materials.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Two years teaching experience at the elementary level.
2. Experience teaching the California state standards.

▪ Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card.

▪ Experience: Demonstrated ability to successfully work with adolescent students and the public in a school setting. Student teaching also applies.

Ability to draft simple correspondence and some routine reports. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

▪ Ability to provide students with an intuitive understanding of the concepts of math at the established grade-level standards.

▪ Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

▪ Ability to proficiently use Google Suite Apps. Ability to type accurately and proficiently..
▪ Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents, members of the community, and others including vendors, law enforcement and other agencies. Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions. A belief that all students can learn.
