Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated 6th Grade Teacher to inspire and guide students through a pivotal stage of their educational journey. Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including subjects such as Math (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus), Literacy Education, Creative Writing, and Physical Education.
- Incorporate diverse teaching methods and learning technology to enhance student understanding and participation.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management strategies and classroom management techniques.
- Assess student progress regularly using standardized testing and formative assessments; provide constructive feedback to support individual growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum materials, integrate special education strategies, and ensure inclusive learning experiences for all students.
- Mentor students academically and socially, fostering a supportive environment that promotes confidence and independence.
- Engage in parent-teacher communication to discuss student progress, behavior, and development plans.
- Support extracurricular activities such as sports coaching or library services to enrich the student experience.
- Participate in professional development opportunities related to childhood development, Montessori methods, or other educational approaches like Chicago Manual of Style or AP style writing.
Experience
- Prior classroom experience working with children at the elementary level is essential; experience with 6th grade students is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching core subjects including Math (Algebra, Geometry, Calculus), Literacy Education, Creative Writing, and Physical Education.
- Proven ability to develop curriculum that incorporates learning technology and aligns with educational standards.
- Experience with standardized testing preparation and tutoring students for academic success.
- Strong communication skills for effective public speaking, parent engagement, and team collaboration.
- Background in special education or experience working with diverse learner needs is advantageous.
